On a talent basis, yes because Rivers is a proven, decent QB... But the guy is a douche! So no, I'd take my chances in the draft with a cheaper option.

Rivers is old, his best days are behind him. Call me crazy but I dream of finding a franchise QB that can play here for a decade or so.

What was Steve McNair? Guy cheats on his wife and gets a pass? Phillip Rivers is head and shoulders better QB than Steve ever was. Forgive me Steve.

I cant believe the majority of people here would say no to a Pro Bowl QB who just threw for over 4000-yards and 30+ TD's. Morons lol

Yea sure lets wait around and burn thru draft picks to find that same guy, like that'll ever happen.

Yeah, let's give up #2 overall for a 33 year old QB whose numbers are very similar to Jay Cutlers:

Com Att PCT YDS YPA LG TD INT SACK RATE Y/PG
    379-570-66.5-4,286-7.52-59-31-18-36-93.8-268

    370-561-66.0-3,812-6.80-74-28-18-38-88.6-254

I don't think you really understand the value of #2 overall.

I dont think you understand the value of having a top signal caller on your team.

and the being 33 thing is nothing when Drew Brees is throwing for 5000-yards at 36 years old. And whats Peyton now? 40? Tom Brady too.

Being 33 is bad when youre a RB, not a pocket QB.

Brees was absolutely detrimental to the Saints this year. Peyton and Brady are sure fire, Hall of Fame QBs. Once again, you are showing you haven't seen a bit of what you are talking about and just pulled up some stats.

Stop comparing other players to these guys. They are outliers, not the standard.

Plus Brees JUST turned 35. So for the majority of the year, a 34 year old. Thats one year older than Rivers, and he experienced a dramatic falloff this year. Most people here are not willing to gamble tossing the #2 for a guy who might not be the same QB in two years.

This isn't even including how dumb it would be for San Diego to even entertain the trade. Just stop.
