    A couple of things...

Houston just turned 26 btw. We should have about 10 top targets with x amount of dollars. We are willing to overpay but the first 2-3 who sign get the cash! We need 2-3 playmakers and the positions almost don't matter as not every free agent will be available and not every top guy will want to come here. Get me Houston (OLB), McCourty (S), Iupati (OG), Bryant or Thomas (WR), Suh (DL)...you get the idea. Webster, don't set our sights on a 3rd tier free agent who we have to overpay for. About the only guy I could see doing that for is Marshawn Lynch to get some attitude on offense and to create a Seattle like offense if we are playing to take Mariota.

BTW, I don't put Dan Williams on this list. I don't believe in overpaying for a NT that can only stuff the run. Suh can stuff the run AND rush the passer. We need IMPACT players and everyone above is that.

A handful of plays usually is the difference between winning and losing and a lot of times those plays are made by the playmakers. We need more playmakers, not more fill-ins.

Our pursuit of Suh is really dependant on whether we expect to take LW in the draft. I'd be very surprised (though not freaked out like the media) if we signed Suh and then drafted Williams to have a front 3 of Casey, Suh, LW...with a Houston on the outside...can you say pressure with 4 rushers? I can. But Suh would be unhappy and not worth it to eat double teams all day so if we think we're likely to get LW, we should go for one of the other free agents. Another problem with signing Suh is that it would hurt our chances of getting someone to trade up with us to get LW. Best to pass on Suh.

I don't think Revis is worth $16mil and he wouldn't want to come here anyway (though I could see Rex vying for him if NE doesn't keep him). Carr is a solid cb but I don't want to overpay for a solid guy. Plus, even if we didn't draft someone to replace BRW, he'd look a lot better with a lot of pressure coming from 4 guys and 7 in coverage then being left on an island and our pressure still not getting there.

Personally, I'd like to see us get Houston at OLB, Bryant or Thomas at WR, and then Iupati or McCourty at OG or S. That gives us 1 excellent pass rusher, 1 dominant WR and either fixes the OL or gives us an excellent coverage option in the secondary. Iupati would provide more instant impact but it's easier to find a good starting OG in the 2nd-4th rnd than a good S.

I'd also like to sign Roos to play RT or at least backup if we can.

It's hard to see the Broncos or Cowboys letting Thomas or Bryant go. I think Thomas would be more likely to leave with Peyton Manning's future up in the air. I don't know if Suh would want to play NT in a 3-4 defense.

I would like it if the Titans cut Levitre and Oher and signed Iupati and another tackle.

Houston, Iupati, McCourty, and Maxwell (Seahawks) would be quite the haul. Now that's not likely to happen but the Titans have to shoot for the stars.

Just get me the first 3 and Roos and call it a day. Maxwell will be grossly overpaid for what you are getting. He was playing on the best d in the league and he wasn't a big reason why. We can't afford those 4 guys if you include Maxwell.

Just thought of something. If we draft Jameis, does that mean Mia Khalifa would become a Titans fan? Yes we should have this conversation.

First of all I don't believe in the traditional sense that you need to give every QB you draft 4 years to figure it out. Most fans knew locker was not the guy after his second year. The orginization still lead it on until the very end and THAT was the bigger mistake. Be honest with yourself and cut your losses as soon as it's evident. See: Manziel

I can make this same case for keeping mett as the starter IF the tenured GM has had success at drafting recently. He HAS NOT. The chance of getting a starting SB calibre QB outside of the top two picks is insanely low.

If we build the defense and become a stout team and still lack a QB... We are the rams. 8-8. With very little chance of finding that elusive QB sitting in the teens. Or 2nd/3rd round.

I'm not saying they don't exist. But they are few and far between. Especially when you look at who we just missed on last season. Carr looks like a nfl QB and bridgewater (who woulda figured.... Oh everybody) is killing it.

I'm not saying mett shouldn't have a chance, but I'd rather have two QBs that can be starters than having none.

And one last thing. This is the whiz show... This is a passing first offense. I love the examples of a run first team getting SB titles but let's be realistic here. Without a strong QB under center this offense will not be effective. Whiz is hard headed and isnt going to trim his gameplan for lousy QB play.

The problem is, most fans are poor at recognizing talent and don't know how to develop a QB. I'm sure there were fans who wanted to get rid of Brady and Rodgers for never playing and being wastes of a pick when they were riding the bench. The most popular QB is always the backup...until the backup QB actually plays. There is a reason for that most fans don't get.

Insanely low? Where were these QB's drafted?
    Russell Wilson
    Peyton Manning
    Colin
    Tom Brady
    Big Ben
    Joe Flaco
    Aaron Rogers
    Drew Brees
    Donovan McNabb
    Kurt Warner
    Eli Manning
    Rex Grossman
    Matt Hasselbeck

The above are the starting QB's for the last 10 Super Bowls. What is the percentage of these taken in the top TWO picks in the draft? your chance of getting a SB QB outside of the top 2 picks appears to be insanely HIGH!!!

The Rams starting QB has been injured each of the last few seasons so not a good comparison. Most good teams develop either with a new system (Martz, Chip Kelly) or by building a great D and strong run game. We got to the SB with this formula as did the Steelers (Big Ben with Whis) as did the Ravens as did the Niners, blah blah blah. If we don't have an innovative system, we had better up our D and run game while we develop a QB. It is the best route to go short of firing Whis and hiring someone with a new system the league hasn't adjusted to yet.

I'm confused. Carr looks like an NFL (except when he doesn't) just like Locker did (until he didn't)?

You left out the other real possibility you have neither...except 2 wasted picks. Time is the only way to judge players and the one thing fans don't want to allow. Based off of Locker's first game you would surmise he'd have a good season. You'd also surmise that our record would be pretty good. But time is the issue. We learn the value of these guys or the team over time. You draft 1 guy because he needs time to develop and playing experience to see if he can do it. how do you give playing experience to two players at once? You can't. Furthermore, several teams who have tried what you and others suggest (take another QB, you can always trade him) end up on the losing end. If you draft a guy in the 3rd and get a 4th back for him years later...is that smart? He's not useful and you lost a round of value at the same time.

The lousy QB play is a function of our poor OL execution, poor WR execution, poor playcalling (not to get our QB into a rhythm and give him some easy throws to get into the game), and inexperienced QB play behind that. But even our 1 experienced QB in CWH didn't look much better because of the other factors being big contributors to the problem.
