Ex NFL referee thinks about killing himself

    Remember the "Fail Mary"? Where replacement ref Lance Easley cheated the Green Bay Packers out of a win on a game saving interception called Seahawks TD? Well since that debacle the guy has dealt with death threats and suicide attempts.


    As football fans we're always so quick to react, even when we're doing more harm than good. Ruining a mans life over a football game is silly, especially when it had no bearing on the teams season. Green Bay later finished the year with a winning record and a playoff birth.

    NFL needs to step up and help this poor guy out, before that Monday Night game Easley never called anything higher than a California junior college football game, he was set up for failure.

    Thoughts on the situation 2 1/2 years later..?

    Actually, it would IMO. He applied for, was accepted for, and performed a job. He was compensated (I am guessing as per his agreement) for the job. He made a bad call.

    I feel bad for him, and it does say a lot about our culture (little of it good), but the NFL is not liable for this IMO.

    That said, I am not reading this as cynically as TJ is...I do not think that he plans to sue. I don't even get the impression that he initiated this discussion...maybe I am missing something though.

    Imagine the Titans calling you up from whatever it is you do, and give you a job youre not ready for, would you turn them down?

    I was hoping it was the idiot who missed the delay of game call.

    (Since there are overly sensitive people on these forums who take everything word for word, I guess I should say that I don't want anyone other than terrorists to die. Sucks that I have to post this, but I know there'd be that one idiot to quote me and start an argument saying I was being too cold.)

    I do agree with Fry... he needs to sack up. He doesn't have a memorable face or anything... he can walk around in public and be just fine.

    A dude like Bartman, on the other hand... it would at least make sense to a degree.

    Lord I hate the Ratbirds, sure was nice to see them lose. I will say this though, they did one good thing the season; they knocked out the Stoolers.

    However, they did not initiate the process....he did. They followed up with him after he initiated the application process (unless I read something incorrectly).

    If I initiated the process with the Titans, I would (well be crazy first off, but that said....) try to honor my commitments to the best of my abilities, and would not blame the Titans if I screwed up....that would be on me.
