It'll be interesting to see if Mariota and Winston opt to throw at the combine. It'd be nice to see them both throw and to take drops and throw NFL route trees. Same for Hundley. Think Petty will probably throw. He looks like he wants to move up the board and thinks he can throw his way there. That always gives me a good impression that a guy wants to compete because...that's your job in the NFL. To compete and lead!

If McKinney had Kendricks' speed he'd be a top-15 pick. If Kendricks had McKinney's frame he'd a top-15 pick. A shame you can mash them together.

UCLA had no issues playing Kendricks in man coverage with backs. He was in the flat in no time to cover them and was even downfield on wheel routes(UVA). I didn't see that with McKinney. Despite his lack of size, I don't see Kendricks get engulfed in the running game. He actually makes quite a few plays between the tackles.

McKinney looks like a between-the-tackles ILB. You can find those guys anywhere. I watched him against LSU because that's his kind of game and he was great. Then I watched him against Auburn to see him in space and he spent a lot of time in the middle of the field covering no one in zone coverage.

Id' say Perryman is a combination of the two. He has enough range to go sideline-to-sideline but has the size(weight, not height) to make plays in the running game. He's also the most inconsistent of the three.

    1. Kendricks
    2. McKinney
    3. Perryman

I'd say the gap is closer between 2 and three than it is between one and two.

If we want to turn the defense around with some tough talent... This year has the bang for the buck. I could see us really trying to sell the pick more and more. Getting an extra second this year and still a top ten pick could be MASSIVE in terms of stacking talent.

4 picks in the first 3 rounds... NT, Edge rusher/LB, RT, CB.

I really do like the idea of drafting winston but I'd be HARD pressed if we could to come away with a trade to achieve this.

Because sadly... If we hit on these guys/positions... I could see every one starting next year by mid season if not sooner.

I believe winston will throw at the combine. He's too competitive to not get off of that sorta thing. Mariota might shy away. He strikes me as an abused dog some times with his demeanor. Hundley needs to hide. He should be going to the senior bowl... Nope. Big mistake IMO. And a very tell tale sign. (And one I've known for a long two years that the kid is **** but whatever)

Mariota needs to do what Tim Tebow did a few years ago and participate in everything he can do. If he can show improvement in footwork from combine to pro-days it would be encouraging to many teams.

Mariota is a shy person according to people around him, best way to shake that off as not being a bad thing is to do all the events as youre saying. His stock will rise when GM's actually meet him, all I keep reading from GM's is "we dont know" when asked about Mariota, word is he's shy but a great guy.

I've seen the same reports. That he is shy and has a cool demeanor, then others stating it was him, and not the coach, who held the team together after Chip Kelly left.

One thing that I do like about Mett leading this team is his personality, he has that warrior mentality. He doesn't get rattled and he has enough confidence for the whole team.

Mett is a bad ass in his mind just like Fitzpatric, with that mentality you better be ready to take the good and the bad (interceptions), but Winston is the exact same way, Mariota isn't, thats a plus in my book for Mariota.
Mett cant run, but with another year to heal that knee of his he MIGHT be just quick enough in 2015. You know Mariota can run, so that right there gets us a win or two on its own, the guy can extend plays and turn busted plays into pluses, Mett hasnt shown that ability yet.

I seriously hate having all these maybe QB's each year. Id kill to know that position is taken care of for a change.
