The OL has got to be addressed in FA...

    It is sad to say that given what we have invested in our OL recently that we still have major holes to fill at RT and OG/C. We are all focused on the defense because it has more needs, but Webster had better figure out a way to help our future QB.

    Whether Mettenberger or an early draft pick is our QB they must have better protection and a better running game to be successful.

    One move I would make is go after Derek Newton the RT from the Texans. He is rated just behind Bulaga by PFF, but I would think would come cheaper. Snagging the Texans RT also would obviously hurt them. Here is an article on him

    The other guy I would look at is Joe Reitz from the Colts. Again hurting a division rival while improving our team. Here is an article on him.

    I certainly wouldn't complain if we went after one of the studs like Bulaga, Franklin, or Iupati, but these other guys would be solid additions as well for less $$$.

    Thank goodness we drafted Lewan last yr or we would really be in trouble.

    I agree completely on this. The main reason I want to address it in FA is I don't want to spend another draft pick on the O-line.

    I have said from the beginning of the offseason that Bulaga is the perfect fit for us. If we paid Oher $6 million this year to suck, I'd be completely fine with giving Bulaga $8 million to actually do the job. I don't really care what it costs, we have a salary cap/floor for a reason, we have to spend money on players, so why not spend it on the best available ones? I think the Titans mindset for the longest time was "We'd rather have 3 guys at $1 million apiece, than one guy at $3 million" and that has gotten us nowhere. I've had enough of the Will Witherspoon's and Jovan Haye's of the world. Go sign some studs!

    Jeff Fisher literally said those exact words a few years back, but it was 8 million. Im with you on this. Gotta fix this line at any cost, preferably not with our 1st pick.

    I don't think we have been cheap recently at all. We actually have invested in the OL, but unfortunately it hasn't paid off. We can't be scared away from investing more in the OL just because of our previous failures.

    When you are rebuilding a team, which we are, you have to start on the OL and DL.

    I'd like to see us address RT/OG/NT in FA and then use the depth of the DL/OLber group in this draft to our advantage.

    Cutting players like Levitre and Oher would be a good start, regardless of monetary implications.

    Exactly, when both players are performing at the bottom in terms of their respective positions, anyone is basically an upgrade.

    Regardless of FA, I still think we add some type of OL in the mid rounds. RT will be addressed in FA or with our 2nd Round pick is my guess. I stud OG could be had with our 2nd or 3rd rounder as well. Unless we re-sign Roos, we need a back-up swing tackle.

    I hate that Levitre has been such a bust but at the time OL was our biggest need so I have to give it to Webster for trying. I don't think anyone knew that he'd suck so hard.

    Sucks that we got screwed by Levitre but that shouldn't deter us from going after top FAs going forward. Don't want to use a top pick on OL again. Do as much to fill holes going into the draft is what Iexpect Webster to be doing this offseason.
