    The NFC West is a loaded division as far as defenses go. RW faces the Cards and SanFran twice a year whereas Luck gets the Titans and Jags twice.

    RW is good, maybe not elite and maybe he never will be, but he's definitely a good QB and I'd take him over at least 80% of starters in the league.

    Plenty of great defenses that aren't going to the big show....Carolina, B-More, Arizona. They all have "Average" QB's according to 520. It was a team win indeed, INCLUDING Russell Wilson. To say that all of his success is literally due to his defense is ridiculous. It certainly helps, but he showed up when he had to. The two throws regardless of Defense were on point! He didn't give up, and it isn't the first time he has done that. Mind you, he is a 3rd round pick btw.

    RW is not a stat guy, but plays within the game and doesn't try to do too much. It doesn't hurt to have a great RB and a great defense as well. The offensive playcalling is probably the best in the league.

    Green Bay scores 2 Tds in the first half instead of FG's from the 1 yd line yesterday and the game would have been pretty much over.

    Yesterday was more a GB loss of opportunities that led to a SEA comeback. Either way RW hung in there

    RW = Derek Jeter
    Peyton = AROD

    2 minute defense is hard as hell. Damned if you do get ohysical, damned if you don't.

    You can't play "safe" like you used to by "running" the clock down with 3 and outs. You HAVE to keep defenses balanced against the pass despite the risk of the turnover INT. Green Bay GAVE that game away IMO more than Seattle "taking" it away.

    Plus - a GD kamikaze army would get unnerved by the noise that stadium makes. I put that loss on a conservative end of game coaching philosophy.

    I agree 100% that GB gave it away more than Seattle taking it. That said, RW made it happen when he had to. Clutch play and seized the moment. This isn't the first time the guy has shown some heart.

    Agree. I don't want to take anything away from him. But defenders are crippled by fear of a game losing PI call at the one yard line.

    Russell Wilson is a classy guy. Both on and off the field. Didn't have the best game but really he is inspiring.

    Indeed, it's eggshells at that point man, and GB shouldn't have even been in that position to begin with. They took their foot off the gas, and it came back and bit them. This isn't the first time Seattle has been clutch though. Wilson isn't a stat machine, but somehow he makes it happen. Much like Joe Flacco, he wins when it matters, and you can't teach that. Defense or not.

    I think its getting almost impossible to keep a decent team from catching you when you are up by <= 2 scores with about 2-3 minutes to go. The reason is this:
    1. The team that's ahead suddenly becomes predictable in their play calling (i.e. no explosive play attempts) because everyone knows they are going to run or throw a screen on almost every play in order to keep the clock rolling. This makes it almost impossible for the offense to not go 3 and out.
    2. The team that's behind suddenly becomes almost unstoppable because they will suddenly become very aggressive in their play calling (i.e. explosive plays) and they will have 4 downs to get a first down on every series.
    3. The team thats ahead will also play looser defense underneath and blitz less in order to protect against big plays down field. Its a much easier defense to succeed against.

    The only way you can keep a team from catching you is accomplishing one of the following:
    1. The team that's ahead must somehow be able to get a first down with the running or screen game even though the defense knows exactly what they will be doing.
    2. The team thats ahead must be able to somehow keep the other team from getting a first down even though the teams thats behind will get 4 chances at a first down on every possession and each of their attempts will probably be aggressive play calls (i.e. explosive plays).
    3. Finally and most importantly. Since #1 and #2 are virtually impossible it is critical to recover the onside kick.

    Yesterday, the Packers failed in all 3 of the above points which is why they lost the game even though its was pretty clear that they were the better team. In order to keep this from happening again, teams need to realize that a 2 score lead is not enough with 2-3 minutes left. They have to play the last 2-3 minutes with the same game plan that they played the beginning of the game. If they don't do that then they can expect for the entire game and season to come down to an onside kick and whether or not a backup tight end catches the ball. That's too risky to allow. So IMO it wasn't the players that lost that game instead it was the coaches.
