Is Mettenberger "our guy?"

I'll be glad when Mett gets caught doing blow at Zaxby's and we can move on from this discussion.

 

Yeah, all we need is ONE OF THE GREATEST DEFENSES EVER ASSEMBLED.

You want to win a Super Bowl with ZACH MOTHER****ING METTENBERGER though? You need the 85 Bears, the Cowboys offensive line in the early 90s and Walter Payton.

 

Lynch and that o line make that offense go.

Definitely ain't Wilson's 1.5 TDs a game....

Yeah, that's why Lynch's yards per game and carries per game have fallen each year since Wilson got drafted.

 

That's not true. Just did any easy search for his stats and you are wrong.

 

Yeah, his yards went up 3 this year. Attempts still down. My bad.

Wilson's attempts, yards, yards per game and INTs are all going the right direction each year. The clear signs of a guy being figured out.

 

I think some of you guys ( @Fry and @Tennessy XO ) are taking the "D and good run game can win championships" too far.

No one is saying that the Titans will build a top 5 D this year, or even in the next 2-3 years ... you are right, it is very unlikely ... but that is not the argument.

The argument is, why not take this year to build the D and OL with Mett at QB. Then either (a) Mett pans out and we found our QB, and we have a better team around him or (b) Mett doesn't pan out, we still draft a QB next year who steps into a MUCH better situation with a better D/OL/etc.

You guys basically just think drafting a QB will fix all the problems, but it won't. When is the last time a rookie QB came in and played well without a great supporting cast? Luck is about the only one you can make that argument for. Most young QBs need a very strong supporting cast if they want to make the playoffs.


The fact of the matter is, if we draft a QB this year, we are setting him up for failure. If we can build the team up before drafting a QB, then we would be setting them up for success.

The hope would be that Mett would turn out to be that guy in the process, how ever little possibility there is for that.
