No, you said that that his yards gained and number of carries have gone down last four years. Neither of it is true, they both have moved up and down year in and out. Plus, I am not saying that he is bad qb at all, if anything, he strengthens my argument that you don't need a top pick qb to win. You need one that fits the system you are running with a good team around you. Mariota and Winston do not fit that mold. Why push a circle into a round hole?

Russell Wilson was drafted three years ago. Lynch's carries absolutely have fallen in all three years; 315, 301, 280. His yards per game went from 99 to 78 to 81. I looked at his career YPG(72) instead of 2014 when I made my initial statement.

I was wrong, but I wasn't that wrong.

    Getting back to Mettenberger.

What do we(the organization) need to see from him in 2015 to not select/sign a QB?

I think we all expect to still be a pretty bad team. He's going to have essentially the cast around him on offense; some combination of Wright, Hunter, Sankey, Walker and a couple of new faces. Hopefully a better offensive line, but we've been hoping for that since 2011, no guarantees it gets better.

So does the "he's surrounded by crap" argument still hold water if we're awful in 2015? He gets 2016 after that?

No, he probably wont get another year. But when the crop of top qb are not that good, why waste a top pick just to pick one? Whiz or Smith would think that this team will improve every year, so going into next years draft, we have a better team and hopefully a better crop of QB. We wont be very good next year and are not just a qb away, so why give the next 2-4 years to a rookie qb we don't like that much? I believe that after this week, Whiz will like what he sees from Petty or the guy from Oregon St enough to draft one of them in the later rounds instead of Winston/Mariota. If the difference in talent/fit etc is not a lot. No reason to draft a qb early.

That really just depends on who is available at QB when we pick next year. The better looking the prospect, the better Mett will have had to look to pass up said prospect.

Really though, the quality of the prospect will be inversely proportional to how well met plays ... If Mett plays like crap and we are looking at a top 10 pick, then we will likely be able to land a good prospect at QB, and the decision will be easy.

If Mett plays well, then we can use that pick on something else anyway.

I really don't think we would pass up QB if we are picking in the top 10 again next year.

Unless they all suck, which at this point looks likely. Or if there is one available and we're picking 7th, we're not landing him.

The Zach Mettenberger/Ken Whisenhunt era will be a blip on this franchise's history. I look forward to it being over.

True value can always be known by simply appraising the open market. For example:
    1. If Tom Brady were traded what would he fetch on the open market today? I would guess even at his age at least late 1st round to 2nd rd.
    2. If Russell Wilson were traded what would he fetch? Obviously a 1st rd pick.
    3. If the Titans don't select Winston or Mariota where would they be selected? High first according to the scouts.
    4. If Mett were traded what is the highest pick you could get? 4th round most likely. This is even after showing his potential with 6 professional starts.

So do you really want a QB, by far the most important position on the team, with 4th rd market value when you can have a QB with high 1st rd market value? I know some of you may think that some day Mett will prove everyone wrong, but right now the market says he's a 4th rd value at best. That being said, if we go with Mett I hope he does prove everyone wrong and I will be the first to apologize.

If you're looking at it that way, wasn't Mett projecting to be a 1st/2nd rounder but dropped due to character concerns and the injury? Just sayin...
