I think it was Gut who posted several videos of top pass rush prospects. The tape on Gregory showed him taking SEVERAL plays off, especially running plays.

On the running plays that he was in on, a few RBs just ran him over. I know he is a pass rusher but has to be good against the run too.

On some plays he was easily push out & around the QB by a single OT. If you look at the Pass Rushers thread Gut posted it has one of the videos on there. I will try to find the other I was looking at.

He has the tools & physical gifts to be great, but the one biggest issue I see with him is effort. He just does not have a high motor on some plays. I understand everyone wears down & maybe I was just expecting too much from all the hype I have heard about him. However, he just took too many plays off for my liking.

I agree that the problem with Gregory is the effort. Williams is 5x the prospect Gregory is.

The issue with gregory is that despite his freakish athletic ability (speed, size and length), he rarely flashes. That is a red flag for me and it's not like people always run away from him.

Athletically he has top 5 athleticism (or so we think) but we don't see it on the field that much...even against lesser competition. There are certainly issues I have with Williams' game, but he can beat just about anyone and shows that much more frequently. It is why he is likely the highest rated prospect in the draft.

He has Barkavious Mingo and Dion Jordan written all over him. He has the tangibles and on paper looks like a beast, but its just doesn't translate well to the NFL.

When the draft buzz is all said in done, I still think we must look at trading #2. Jets are the prime team to look to deal up for Mariota, their OC is a spread/dual threat type of coordinator and they're in desperate need of a QB. They have a good defense, solid WRs, and an average OL - just a huge lack at QB.

We on the other hand, could use an upgrade at almost every position.

    • QB: Mettenberger, could be upgraded. Makes it hard to trade out of #2.
    • RB: Sankey was below average on his rookie year, DMC/Greene are nothing to me.
    • WR: I have faith in Wright, Washington is gone, Hunter is hit and miss. Honestly, we still need a WR1 since Wright is primarily a slot.
    • TE: Walker is here to play, zero depth behind him and Walker seems to always be banged up.
    • OL: MUST upgrade RT & LG
    • DL: At DE Casey is legit and I still have faith in DaQuan, plus Pito is a serviceable starter. Could use a superstar like Leonard Williams though. MUST find a true NT.
    • OLB: Probably biggest need. Can't have a successful 3-4 without an edge rusher. Morgan is a FA, so we need 2 new starting OLBs. Unless Morgan comes back for cheap, I wouldn't pay him much.
    • ILB: Williamson was a nice surprise. Woodyard sucks, Gooden is no more than decent depth/ST, and Brown is still a question mark. Could use a true thumper and there are some legit ILBs in this draft.
    • CB: McCourty had an average year and our depth sucks. BWW/Sensabaugh were both let downs. Horton needs a true #1 CB, all his past defenses had one (Peterson/Haden).
    • S: Griffin had another up and down year, plus will Pollard even return? I did like Huff however.
Now, if a team like the NYJ call and offer #6, their 2nd, their 4th, and '16 1st/'17 1st... how do you say no? We could literally use an upgrade at EVERY position. We could have these picks with our draft:

    #6:
    #33:
    #37:
    #66:
    #97:
    #101:
    #130:
    #161:
    #192 (NE):
    #219 (DAL):

That's 6 picks in the Top 101. Potentially 6 new playmakers to our team. Plus, we're likely to get a 3rd or 4th comp for Verner, so potentially 7 Top 101 picks (if it's a 3rd). We could walk away this draft with a new OLB, NT, WR, CB, OT, OG, ILB whom were all rated in the Top 100. Oh yeah, then you have two first rounds picks in the next two years. Even if Jets changed the '17 1st to a 2nd, i'd still do the trade.

This would jump start our rebuild. Build through the draft.. and we still have $40mil to spend in FA.

I think Mett could become somebody with a legit OLine, same for Sankey. Football is won in the trenches, you know this as well as anyone.

And what would you pay Morgan?

I couldn't agree more Brave. Exactly why that has to be the #1 priority. Buh bye Oher and Levitre. Sure that up in FA and get impact players in the draft. Until they get a solid receiver or two, a smasher RB, and some line help, Sankey will suffer. I am still hoping they take Williams #1 if they don't trade back.

This is how our draft needs to play out.

First we need to acquire some guys in FA, otherwise we wont come out of the draft a good team. We need to use our top draft pick (where ever it ends up being) on a pass rusher. Even with FA we can't land enough pass rushers, we have 2 at best, you need about 5 in the NFL to do anything.

Then find a CB. We can use all the rest of the picks on depth all over, but we HAVE to get pass rushers and CB's from now til May.

We're somewhat fortunate that we have needs a LG and RT, those are devalued positions, we can scoop those positions up in the mid rounds and still get quality players. Not like LT's who always go early in the 1st round, and centers who start going after 10 or so picks in the same round.

Don't get me wrong, I believe the same about Mett and Sankey. But the point being said, they could be upgraded. Besides the NFL is all about 2-3 rotational RBs now and I really don't have faith in DMC or Greene, we could use that #2 (potentially #1) RB still.

I probably won't pay Morgan anything.

Think Antonio Andrews is anything worthwhile? He really saw no action at RB so hard to gauge the kid.
