If the rule was written that teams could alter the balls however they want to then that would be fine, but the rule is very specific. So if a team purposely breaks the rules they should be punished. Since this isn't the 1st time that the Pats have pulled this crap the punishment should be harsh.

Did they test the Colts footballs? I haven't read that anywhere. Obviously they should have for comparison, but I won't be surprised if they didn't.

Actually the question it really irks is, why are the Colts the only ones to notice?

I am making the assumption this article is accurate because I did not know of any of these ball rules prior to DeflateGate.

    From article:
"You can seemingly rule out the idea of the Patriots providing a pump that would provide inaccurate readings (if this is even possible) because it would have presumably then deemed the Indianapolis' footballs as overinflated. You can also give up on the weather altering the pressure because it would have done the same to the Colts' footballs and this isn't a story.
During a game each team uses its own footballs. So the Colts had theirs and the Pats had theirs. Why this is done in football (it's same at the college level) is another question. Kicking balls come straight from the manufacturer. Why not all footballs?"

I really dont care how much it affected the game. What matters is the Patriots, once again, being questioned for not following the rules that the NFL sets.

I dont care if the score was 70-3, that doenst give the Pats the right to bend the rules and not follow them.

Rodgers had the solution. Have a minimum amount required, but no maximum.

First quarter, Luck throws a ball down the sidelines and hit hits the guy in the hands and bounces off. Thats what a cold/hard ball is like when playing in that weather. When you take the air out, its easier to throw/catch/pass.

They bent the rules, AGAIN. Throw the book at them and pretend like you actually care about the integrity of the game.
