if we draft a new QB, chances are he will break David Carr's sack record.

Sankey was pummeled, the OLine he was left to play with was a joke. Dont judge Sankey based off 2014. Theres still hope for Sankey.

No doubt man. Especially after so many other rookies surpassed him in so many ways. I pray he turns it around 180 style this year.

Uhh... Literally the next sentence that you left out said "everyone here hates him." So no. People around here don't think that, in general.

Of course if we think we can get an upgrade in the draft, we'd do it. I've already said I would completely understand taking either Winston or Mariota. And I am warning up to taking Winston much more if he's still on the board.

Just curious... How much of Derek Carr did you see up there in Canada?

Fair enough. Didn't mean to misquote you. You just aren't the first person around here to say something along those lines. Have seen many and I just don't get it.

As for your question, I watch most NFL games (condensed on Game Rewind). Not sure if you are trying to somehow discredit me, but we have the Internet in Canada. Also TV.

I think what that article is saying is true some of the time and maybe even a majority of the time, but the word "never" is a big word. There have been many mobile/scrambling QBs who learned how to become great pocket passers. For example off the top of my head: Roger Staubach, Joe Montana, Steve Young, John Elway, Ken Stabler, Warren Moon, Steve McNair, etc. In all those cases the key for them was age. As they got older they didnt have to rely on their legs as much and learned how to throw from the pocket. The mobile Qbs who never develop that skill end up petering out (Mike Vick, VY, etc) . IMO I think that Mariota may very well be the kind of QB who learns that skill because of his character and dedication to the game. I.e. His character reminds me more of the first group than the latter.

Also I think being a mobile QB is a plus for a younger QB. The reason is because they haven't learned how to make quick decisions yet so they tend to hold onto the ball longer than vets. Being mobile buys them time while avoiding the sack and taking a beating (e.g, David Carr, Mett). Then as they get older and learn how to read defenses more quickly they don't need to rely on their legs as much to get out of trouble. We saw this with McNairs development.

Drew Brees and Andrew Luck are two pocket QB's that are nothing without their escape ability, so yes having that extra tool helps the young QB's. But long term I want the cerebral QB who wants to stay in the pocket, not the one who misses reads cause he takes off too soon.

Were is the proof that Winston can win with no line. He had all day on nearly every FSU snap that he made count. When the line didn't hold he made mistakes..
