the nhl playoffs are a different animal. you typically need a few years experience in the playoffs to get used to it as a team before you win yhe stanley cup. even with the regular season success i do not think it is realistic for nashville to win the cup this year.

that being said you do need to start somewhere. the preads could get their experience and win the cup in 2018. . i do not see the titans doing much before then.

I never really ventured deep in this site except for the football forum and just noticed there is a Preds thread.

    Awesome.

Really nice to see an offensive team for change.

If Rinne is healthy by then, all bets are off.

and When Rinne is healthy, and with the Weber/Suter combo, they were legit, but lacked offense..
Now they have Weber and Josi, who is much younger and cheaper, and still great.. and an all-around good offense (first time ever) Where there is not one dynamo, but a good set of forwards, 4 lines deep.

In the last playoff run, (before the lockout and Rinne Injury last year) They depended on Flaky Radulov/Kostitsyns.. and the hard working overachievers in Erat, Legwand, and Hornqvist.

I wouldn't dare say they are Stanley cup bound yet.. but they seem to be closer than ever.. I'm just thrilled to be able to see some home playoff games again.

But even if they are eliminated 4-0 in the first round of the playoffs, I'll still be happier than as a Titans fan, where there is the overall lackadaisical vibe from top to bottom.

Neal is known to fall apart in the playoffs at times.. luckily he has been good, but by no means a vital part of the machine. Smith/Wilson/Ribeiro/Jones/Forsberg were all big risk for failure, and they all have stepped up big time.

I'm excited about the Preds, I think much of it has to do with how bad the Titans are and how upset I am with the NFL in general.

It's weird to have the worst team in football on one side of the river and the best team in hockey on the other side. But I'll take it. There's no doubt this team under this management with Poile/Laviolette and soon to be rookie of the year and franchise player Forsberg that this team will be in contention for a Stanley Cup soon, if not this year.

Gotta get Pekka back soon though. Would've won with him tonight for sure.

I finally got to go to a game a few weeks back, and it was awesome... It was the game against Dallas that only lasted 17 seconds (@JCBRAVE time) into OT before Weber scored.

It was the anniversary of the MCM that day and they did a tribute on the jumbotron. I cheered. Very few people cared. Lol

So many OT/shootouts. They're winning most of them this year too (unfortunately not tonight). The last two seasons it seemed like they lost just about every damn game that went into OT or a shootout... Had no offense whatsoever.

I'll be going again sometime soon. Just gotta go for cheap on college night or something. I wanted to go to Trotz's return a couple weeks back, but tickets were too expensive (for me).

No offense to Trotz, but I had said it for the past two seasons... It was time to move on. He was the 2nd longest tenured coach in all of pro sports behind only Popovich. Same crap with Fisher. Nashville was just too loyal and nice.

Laviolette is awesome. Dude flipped his sh*t at the refs for waving off the goal in the 3rd that night... and I loved it.

I was at that game, too. 16 dollar seats. Can't beat it.

Can't wait for Rinne to come back.

Seems the offense has to score 4-5 goals a game just to have a chance of winning with Hutton in the net.

and I still think the preds are 3-1-2 since he's been out. It's a good character test for this team.
8 out of 12 points is pretty incredible considering the Preds lost their best, and most important player, by far.

And last night, they essentially lost to the blues in a skills competition, not in a real game setting.

This is very promising for the franchise. They could have totally fallen apart around this subpar goalie, and they haven't.. except for the Red Wings.. but every team has nights like that.
