    I agree

but we have to stop using that particular justification for basically TOLERATING a player.

I have to tolerate about 45 players on this roster, at least with Mett he's one of the guys that has actually shown promise.

He had a very good game on the big stage against Pittsburgh, dropped 345 on the Eagles and in his first career start basically had a 300-yard game (299). Did we win any of those games? No. However, when you go 2-14 with 3 different starting QBs then clearly it wasn't a team built to win many, or even a few.

Wouldn't be the most exciting move but I would come around to giving Mett another year and using the draft and FA to fill in bigger needs. If Mett isn't the guy then we can draft one next year with a resemblance of a team around the new guy.

I agree, he has not written himself off. But playing down as much as we were, we never really got to see him play in any real meaningful situations.

Lets be honest, if this class wasn't nearly as questionable, or we had some decent free agents set to hit the market, we would be talking about replacing Mett more seriously. We just don't have that luxury.

I agree. I would be on the Jameis/Mariota train but there are concerns. Whenever you think you can get a franchise QB then you go for it, doesn't matter who else you have on the roster. Mett sold me against the Steelers. I watched him closely and he did everything possible to win that game with what he had. Titans had nothing to play for, Steelers at that time were still trying to make that playoff push.

My point is, it's not going to be doomsday if we give the keys to Mettenberger for another season. Mett is probably already a better option than Whiz had at his time at Arizona outside of Warner of course.

I also believe if Webster/Whiz draft a QB in the 1st then they're basically drafting players for the next front office/staff. They're in win now mode. Which is why I'm expecting a big free agency (not always a good thing) and some moves on draft day.

That's due to the ineptitude at the top of our organization. Smith will have to fire Webster if we have another bad season and who knows what the next GM will do. I just wish Smith would sell the team. I'm not buying the fake outrage that Smith has been spewing all year and off season.

why sell a profitable business? Smith is just like all the other owners, show him the money and he couldn't care less how we play.

You want Smith to feel for the fans? Stop giving him your money.

That comment was just based off the brief rumors that he may sell to an interested party. I'm sure he'll hold onto the team no matter what for a while.

Because he's old, knows he's bad at running the team and no one in his family is any better? Because $1.5 billion in cash right now is better than yearly profits in the tens of millions if you know you're gonna die in the next 25 years?

I'm not saying he will sell the team, but it's not hard to see why he might.
