Yes. And it was THIS year (not prior years) that their balls were found to have less pressure.

I remember that RB (Stevan Ridley I think) who had problems hanging on to the football in New England? He got his ass sat on the bench until the problem was fixed. My personal belief is that one of the reasons the Patriots are a top team is that they pay attention to football fundamentals: ball security and tackling in particular.

LOL....talking about and citing due process in the middle of a Pats hate party here. We are still in the middle of the investigation and we have folks ready to suspend Belicheck for a season.

I agree with your comment on due process however. There is a rule that is subject to interpretation. Belicheck interprets it in a manner that benefits his team. Now there is an audit of this rule and Belicheck's actions to determine if his interpretation is within the bounds of the rule. The process is working here IMO, at least as well as it can given the media circus and Pats hate party going on.

Note that, if it is shown that the Patriots purposely deflated these balls, I will be right there with you all clamoring for a punishment...I just do not see evidence coming forward, and I still see a potential alternate explanation, although I will be interested in what the Columbia report says.

Sean Payton is different IMO. First off his penalty came AFTER the investigation. Secondly his (through his assistants) offenses were such that they could impact player safety and long term ability to play in the league.....much more serious IMO.

In any event, I do not see this as cataclysmic for the NFL like you seem to. Coaches and players have been interpreting/bending rules since around 1920 in the NFL. This is nothing new or particularly world ending for me.

I was just wondering that too.....could it be....what is that called again.....COACHING.....that caused Blount's fumbling issues to improve when he came to New England?

In a world where someone going to the can before a game obviously means that he is deflating footballs I guess not.....

Hmm... if the bigger benefit is less fumbling... maybe Brady doesn't have any knowledge of it.

Maybe the WR and RB coaches should be questioned.

I certainly dint see it as cataclysmic for the NFL. Just another sign of an impending downturn in the product.

The earned their "hate party" for the reasons mentioned above. People respect other successful franchises like the Packers, Seahawks, Steelers because they haven't been caught "bending" the rules the way the Pats have.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Warren Moon used to put game balls in a dryer with rocks prior to playing for better grip. I thought that was interesting and funny. These guys have been doing this stuff forever.

That's what I'm saying. QBs since way back been tampering with the balls.

I said the same thing... The lack of fumbles are likely due to Belichick being absolutely insane and throwing his RBs to the dog house if they don't hold onto the ball consistently. Poor Jonas Gray ripped off a 201 yard, 4 TD performance and didn't even play a snap the next week because he overslept and missed a team meeting. That's what a good coach will do. But Gray absolutely deserves another chance.

Blount has been horrible with fumbles in the past... That was his biggest weakness. This year I don't even recall him fumbling (he only started a few games), and if he did it wasn't much.

But that doesn't change the fact that the difference in number of fumbles per game from the Pats and other teams is statistically significant.

Doesn't mean Deflategate had anything to do with it. Although deflated footballs would be easier to hold tight. So there is that.

Either way, I do not give two sh*ts about Deflategate. It's just a dumb storyline. And it's already dying down. If the Pats win, it'll surely pop back up again. I doubt any punishment comes of it. Sherman summarized it well... Goodell and Kraft are butt buddies.

Yes, the home team gets an advantage in the game. The advantage is equalized over the course of the season as each team gets the same # of home games.

When did the Titans crowd produce a 120 decibel noise volume from the players and coaches encouraging them too? Yes, players and coaches can get an increase, but it is FAR from the effect of just turning up the stereo.

Didn't you say virtually all teams do this?

The Bills no huddle doesn't break any rules or circumvent any rule. Their is no deception there so it is not similar in any way. Trying to gain a competitive advantage by circumventing rules is where I draw the line.
