IMO it is because of his pretty harsh Twitter comment about the fans mentioned yesterday. The comments in the thread flipped pretty quickly after that came out.

I was offended by the comment as well, but I also think that folks should try to get past that and consider whether this is a common sentiment among the team. I personally have wondered if the decision to wear white for the final home games was not somehow connected to the lack of home fan attendance at the games.

Again, I completely understand why folks stayed home, and don't want to get into a "real fan" circular discussion here, but I do wonder how common Pollard's view is among the other players.

For me it's not what he said about the fans or the culture it's the fact he is quitting on his teammates. He was suppose to be a "vocal leader" and now times are hard he wants out.

I can never respect someone that just simply quits. No one forced him to sign back with us.

Pollard is a scrub and will not be missed this way

I can respect that as well....I just noticed that a lot of folks were laughing at his comment about Dawson before the comment about the fans came out. That is when I noticed a shift.

That said, your initial comment was pretty much what you state above if memory serves.

I'll give you that man, didn't really think about it like that. Honestly, I'm not mad because I think we can find an upgrade. That simple.

You mean to tell me that the old, slow guy coming off a serious injury wants out?

    Oh well.

I also liked him, played hard and could tell he actually cared. Though, I was 50/50 on cutting him anyway because we would save 3+ million by cutting him. Because he wants to leave, we can probably come to an agreement and save more. I am more than happy to give that 3 million plus, probably 3-4 million more for Devin McCourty. Huff and Stafford will be solid back ups. Not upset at him either, he wants to win and that wont be here.

The sad thing is our pathetic roster is so bad that we have an 8 page thread on Bernard Pollard.

Pollard is probably doing more harm than good for himself. What team would want to sign an aging SS coming off an injury, who been with multiple teams/quitting on his current team and calling fans out on Twitter?

The actions and inactions made by this team are truly worrisome!!! We fired a coach who went 7-9. Brought in a new guy AND 'upgraded' the roster and we go 2-14? Not a single coach or staff is fired???

I know nothing about Lake Dawson and what he did or did not do on this team but it appears that some teams (or their reporters) suggested he at least solved the Rooney rule for them. Again, I don't know, just what I read. it's not like anyone can point out players he was responsible for getting, re-signing, drafting, cutting, what have you. But he's been fired to stream line the process (read give more power) to Ruston Webster.

Webster and this coaching staff got rid of a player who is now playing in the SB! And has talked trash at them/us.

Walker mentioned there being a cancer(s) in the locker room and Pollard coming back felt like maybe the team WAS moving in the right direction. And then we have the worst season in franchise history and Pollar is hurt to boot.

Now Pollard is pointing out publicly that we are firing the wrong people and the team culture is as bad or worse than we thought. Reminds me of an article I read about Chow being back in college football and he mentioned a story about how he tried to get a high profile new draft pick to pay attention or something and basically the player basically said...I'm getting paid more than you and I have the owner on speed dial. Basically, the player had all the power. And that was a while ago.

Pollard was a very good player for us. He is one of 2 vets who came here from either playing in a chmap game or the sb and know what it takes to win. I think he and Walker were trying to fight against the current culture. He wasn't only brought in for his play, but for his leadership. Unfortunately, I think they sold him there was a new sheriff in town (Whiz) and we would put a winning team (we went 7-9 the previous year before roster upgrades) on the field. Only problem, we were as far from a winning team as one can have.

As much as we all like football to be about the game, the reality is that it is a business and Pollard is on borrowed time for his career. Coming off an injury to a rudderless ship without any direction probably doesn't look like the place he wants to finish his career. I understand that.

Did he quit on his team? Not really. the off-season is where the game is put on hold and the business side prevails. He's making a business decision. I get it. Truth is, he was a very good run defender (one of the best tacklers and a high effort guy) but a liability in coverage. I think we really missed him in some games but given the state of the team...it was time to move on without him anyway and wish him the best. I think it's that time for griffin as well.

I'd pencil in Marqueston Huff at FS and Stafford for SS for the moment. Like many of you, I'm a big fan of Devin McCourty and would pursue him in free agency.

Now that SS is area that could use a major upgrade, keep an eye on Shaq Thompson if the Titans trade back. I think he could be a Cam Chancellor type...only with a little less Boom but better coverage.
