Lacy was another good pick, but Rodgers forces defenses back and their run blocking is actually really good. I watch a lot of Packers being from WI, and I can't even describe some of the gaping holes he runs through. He does finish runs very well and always gets more yards than he should.

As for Cobb and Jordy, also good players, but put them on a team with an above avg starter and they regress to above avg production. Remember when Jarett Boykin started in 2013 due to injury. He put up superstar numbers the few games he played. That offense would still run effectively if you put the Chiefs wr on that team.

Don't even get me started on Clay Matthews. He's the most overrated player in the NFL. Go watch some games instead of just hearing about him. He'll make some impact plays, but is completely invisible the rest of the game. I think he had like 1.5 sacks and 15 tackles through the first 9 or so games before moving to ilb. Even go watch a highlight video of his. Watch how many plays he makes without being touched by blockers. Once the blocker engages him he's done. Can't get off.

Would I take all of those players on the Titans? Yes I would, but would definitely not even expect close to the same production they're putting up now. I take that back. I would only take Clay if he took a pay cut.

P.S. I watched every single Packers game besides 2.

Honestly, Rodgers is a PRODUCT of McCarthy, not some divine insight by Thompson or he wouldn't have sat him on the bench for so many years. Everything about Rodgers' game changed under McCarthy's tutelage!!!

And everyone wants to credit the Pats for seeing Brady as a Hall of Fame guy too. That didn't happen. He was drafted to be a backup and was expected to stay that way until injury gave him a chance. What credit Belicheck and his coaches should get is for deciding to go with Brady long term and developing him into a game manager before he eventually became THIS Brady that we all know now.

The proof is in the pudding. Our record is significantly worse since Webster has been GM. We've changed coaches twice while he's been VP of player personnel or higher.

Webster's FA record is ABYSMAL. His contracts are laughable IMO. And apologists point to some lame facsimile argument of "he positioned our contracts for just one or two years......" Maybe, just maybe, we wouldn't have to OVERPAY if we our ability to assess player potential in the draft wasn't near the bottom of the league. Maybe we could build through the draft like we're supposed to do.

Free agency has become even harder (almost impossible now IMO) to land any really talent due to the cap increasing all the time. Players with productivity left just don't make it out-or at least it is a rare event lately. And our GM is RESPONSIBLE to be able to assess the difference.

We've been schooled in the draft and free agency because it appears our ownership/management simply isn't as "connected" as some of (and with) the better organizations. We've been picking up washed out FA's for the past few years to create some fan buzz- when really, ownership needs to put their resources (time/money) into acquiring the services of the most talented GM's and team administration personnel they can find. Ownership needs to foster relationships with other ownerships of successful franchises. Criticism of Tommy Smith is warranted. He's a proxy owner who doesn't have much, if any, NFL experience. And besides his blustery windbag ra-ra pressers, he doesn't appear to have much interest in the NFL or the franchise.

I honestly don't know how some of you can defend Tommy Smith or Webster. Yes- they may be trying. But so would ANYBODY else in that position.

    Muddled ostrich voices:

    "Webster's a real good drafter..."

"Yeah- and he's real good at getting us out of bad free agent......"

Who is defending Webster? Are these directed at me? The first one, in particular, came at the end of a long post about me.

I don't know where anyone would get the idea that I have ever defended Webster. I think he's doing a very bad job and I was one of the first people on this forum calling for him to be fired.

The difference is I want him to be replaced by a capable GM, not a fan who happened to read some mock drafts and who thinks he can do a better job. I'm not exactly worrying about that happening.

I think I'm just about done banging the "a fan would be a bad GM" drum. You all think very, very highly of your own football intellect and apparently that won't change. I can accept that.

No- I wasn't referencing you. I have understood what you have been saying. Alex and JCB are just jacking you up- they love to do it.

JCB is particularly bad to latch on and defend members of the Titans organization. He's fueled by opposing views and just looks to get his post counts up. Alex just gets in a malcontent mood sometimes.

I've heard JCB defend Webster ad nauseum (like he did Locker and currently defending Sankey). His goggles get fogged a lot.

I have little faith in Webster as a GM and even less in Tommy Smith as an owner.

I don't think its defending players, I think it's more of hoping they can turn it around. My homer-ness definitely takes over when it comes to our players.

Jake Locker is the ONLY example of me being wrong about a player, only one. But thanks for listening.

Why don't you work for an NFL team yet? I assume it's only a matter of time.

Ive considered it, have some friends in college coaching that have asked me to join their staffs, but I enjoy my lifestyle ATM. 9-5 M-F, 2 hour lunches, get paid on salary, vacations when ever I feel like it. Ive got a nice thing going.

When my kids grow up I'll most likely make the move to some level of football, right now working 5 mins from their school is good. Why rock the boat.... Ya know..

I don't think anyone is thinking that a fan would be the ideal GM... just that it could potentially be an improvement over what we have.

But would I be happy if Tommy hired a GoTitans forum member to be a GM? Probably not.
