The more I think about it, the more I don't want a pass rusher. You need to have a complete defense in order for them to make an impact. PK wrote an article a few days ago and nailed it. Fix the rest of the D, and go after a guy who can chase the QB then.

Leonard Williams has to be the pick at #2 if we don't trade back (and we should).

You are right, I want Williams, but I wouldn't consider him a straight pass rusher like Beasley/Gregory types.

My hope is that we get a pass rusher in FA and draft one in the second. Hell, draft two if we can trade back.

We need someone opposite Casey, and more importantly, someone to plug up the middle.

I'd like to grab someone in free agency to rush the passer

I think it would be awesome if we trade back a few spots, pick up someone like Danny Shelton. Then we are freed up to take a 2nd tier pass rusher like Orchard at #33.

If we can get a good pass rusher in FA and fill in some holes in the d-line, I'd say we're looking pretty good.

My exact reasoning for not wanting to throw a bunch of money at Houston if KC is dumb enough to let him walk. If your defense can't stop the run they don't get the opportunity to rush the passer.

I never understood trading back to get 'your guy'.

If everyone believes that Shelton is going to be a staple for us, why not take him at two and eliminate the chance of someone else snagging him?

At that point Williams is off the board, we get our guy, and don't have to worry about someone else snagging Shelton. From everything I have read, Shelton may not be around much longer after we pick, those big NTs are increasing in value, rapidly.

those 'niche' guys are becoming more and more common. Teams like KC can afford to send Houston on a blitz damn near every down, that entire defense barely has any weakness. We could replace 10 of our guys next season, and end up with either the exact same results, or better. That isn't good, we need to snag atleast 5 more full time guys to see anything significant next year.

If we get Williams or Shelton and they are what we think they can be, you can get sacks from a no name pass rush specialist ---- kinda like Jacob Ford did a few years back.
