It's about maximizing your currency. Would you take a player everyone thinks is a 3rd rnd pick in the top 10 of the draft? Not, because you don't have to spend that currency to get the player.

Think of it like Ebay. Let's say you want to buy a widget and you see most of them are going for $100 by the end of their auctions. But this time there are only a few widget auctions left. Are you gonna buy it out and spend $300 or try and stay closer to what you think market value is ($100) and if someone overpays...that's there problem.

What most teams/GM's don't understand is this concept of maximizing value, not getting bogged down in the nonsense of BPA vs Need. They are both wrong!

And it's not about one player, it's about a group of players at different levels of value. As long as you get one of them, you're good.

These stats are a great example of how people don't understand stats. If we were 31st against the run and 16th against the pass, why was MORE dmg done to us via the pass? Ponder this.

And BTW, we are competent against the run, just not by the stat you chose to rank us by. There are better stats to show a better picture.

By your stat, the Panthers run d is ranked 16th - middle of the pack. Now, see if you can figure out why our run D was BETTER than theirs.

No way I take Collins in rnd 1. I just don't see the value. He's fast at running towards the LOS but he's awefully mediocre playing the pass from half field zone. To me, he's a 2nd rnd player at best unless he can wow me with his pass cover skills at the combine, but Im not holding my breath.

I think at #12 you'd look for Shane Ray falling, Shelton, WR (say DeVante Parker) or CB (Trae Waynes pls) or even Mariota if he fell that far.

At 19, I'm looking for pass rusher, cb, dl, ol, wr, te, rb, ilb...not in that order.

Give me Waynes at 19 and a WR at 33 or Parker at 19 and PJ Williams at 33 and Im down!

@Gut what do you think about Campbell Ss from Northwestern? I think he could beour 4th or even 5th rdr and start day 1.

I'm all on on Nate Orchard @ #33. Heck, if we did a CLE trade for 12 & 19 I'd consider him at #19. I think Orchard is going to be a star, reminds me of a young DeMarcus Ware with a Clay Matthews energy.

I've only watched the Cal tape and the few shots of him at Snr Bowl so not a lot to go on. I agree he could go there and definitely looks like a SS as he looks like a better tackler than coverage guy. He's not nearly the hitter Stafford is but he's a better tackler from what little Ive seen. He'd battle with Stafford and Huff to start if we don't draft anyone higher. I like what I've seen enough to think he's a mid-rnd pick...but I'd like to see more of him.

I think the strength of this S class is in the mid-rnds.

The only S who I see no major warts on is Shaq Thompson. I have no idea why he is not getting more 1st rnd love compared to Landon Collins. I will be very interested to see Thompson and Collins doing S drills at the combine!

What if we ended up with McCourty at FS and Shaq Thompson at SS?

Demarcus Ware was unblockable. Orchard was very blockable at the SR Bowl practices. Doesn't mean he can't do it, but I think he's raw. I think he will have the measureables...but how he develops will be the key to whether he's a consistent double digit sack guy or a Derrick Morgan whos solid but just didn't get there. And you can say that about several of the edge rushers...Fowler, Dupree, Gregory, etc

However, I think the Titans really like Orchard and probably have him targeted at #33 atm. I certainly don't want Orchard at #2!!!

Knowing the titans history who do you think we will reach heavily on based on potential and being a workout warrior?

Having the #2 pick makes drafting considerably easier for the titans in theory but I'm sure we'll screw that up. But round 2 on all bets are off on smart draft choices.

I've seen a lot of people put Thompson in the 1st round, but all as a 4-3 OLB. He really didn't play much Safety in college.
