The New Consoles

Thing about Wii U and PS4 is that Nintendo don't get a lot of love from 3rd parties and they rely heavily on their big hitters (Zelda, Mario Bros/Kart/Galaxy, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Smash Bros etc etc).

Nintendo and Sony have strong first party support/studios (Sony inc. Uncharted, Bloodborne, Infamous, God of War, Killzone) and Sony have done a ****load right in making the console popular amongst the devs.

So basically it's down to the games you know are coming (on either console) and if you like any of the 3rd party games going to PS4 that most likely won't go to Wii U.

In saying that, PS4 is still new so what is coming is still unknown for the most part.

I love Wii U games but I also love playing sports games. Zelda, Mario, Kart, Smash, all of it, love those games. But when it comes down to it, I play video games mostly against my friends and exactly NONE of my friends own a Wii U and therefore I cannot justify buying one. It's all about the online multiplayer for me and that is the one thing that Nintendo has never really gotten right. It's a shame too because their console-exclusive games are freakin awesome, I miss playing zelda so much..

I'll likely buy an Xbox One when the time comes. I really would rather have a PS4 but my idiot friends all decided to go microsoft again(even after the RRoD fiasco) so I don't really have a choice. Although, I do like the way the new Xbox works with cable tv and the ability to snap it to a corner, I think I'll probably love that feature.

 

The only difference between PS4 and Xbox to me is the remote.

IMO, the PS4 controller is the best.

 

I own a PS4 and my old roommate has an XB1. I love my PS4. The interface is quick and easy to use, they have a very good game library, PS Plus always has some nice deals and you get two free games a month and they've been improving here lately, PS4's exclusives have been better and some of the big ones drop in the next few months, and the controller is a lot better. I also love having the app on my phone and being able to start downloads or make purchases straight from there in a pretty easy way.

The only negatives I would say is no HBO Go yet, despite XB1 having the app. Did some research and apparently it'll be ready before next GoT season, so not too big of a deal. I'm by no means a console war kinda guy. I've had old consoles from both companies in the past. PS4 I feel like has better games, better relationships with gaming companies, more bang for the buck, and excels at gaming. XB1 is almost like a home entertainment center but also plays games as well.

If you go PS4 I highly recommend The Last of Us in case you haven't played it yet. Shadow of Mordor is also a great game and Bloodborne is like a month away. Oh and of course MLB The Show is coming soon if you're a baseball fan.
