Don't show me the set-up. Just the shootouts and explosions right?
Seems like that interest could be satiated entirely on youtube. Why would ya watch anything else?

Watched Birdman over the weekend. Some really great performances and it was a solid enough movie I suppose. But I was hoping it would've done more fore me than it did. I definitely expected more from a 'Best Picture'. Although I didn't really see much this year so maybe it was just a weak field.

I did enjoy it for the most part but it's not a movie I think I'll ever revisit. I didn't find the ending as "brilliant" or "charming" as most. Personally I think the whole "it can mean whatever you want it to mean" type of ending is played out and in many cases, lazy. I think it takes a lot of finesse to pull off that kind of ending. Obviously in this instance it worked for a lot of people but not so much for me.

cue Alex with some lame Transformers comment

Can't believe Age of Extinction didn't win!!!

Birdman was great. Surprised you were able to find it even solid. I guess it did have that one scene with the giant bird attacking to keep your interest.

I watched Birdman as well. The jazz drums make me insane - so it had that going against it. Kept my interest all the way thru but in the end I felt like the whole 'story' boiled down to the bar scene where he confronts the Broadway journalist.
This flick was entirely art and quite visually stunning.
Not something I need to own but well done top to bottom.

It did take a while to adjust to drums being the entire score of the film.

THAT WAS THE BEST!!!! 10/10 for that scene alone.... 4/10 for the rest. Averages out to "solid".

I thought it was pretty cool that Emma Stone basically did that on a weekend off from shooting the crappy Spiderman flick.

I did enjoy the visuals, particularly in the way they "cut" between time/scenes. I agree its "entirely art". I can appreciate it in that respect and like I said I did not think it was a bad movie by any means. It's just one of those movies that IMO comes off as a bit pretentious with less actual substance than the filmmaker wants you to believe. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
