Probably the worst thing to talk about, and one that probably won't get much exposure.

76 of 79 Deceased NFL Players Found to Have Brain Disease | Concussion Watch | FRONTLINE | PBS

''Researchers there have now examined the brain tissue of 128 football players who, before their deaths, played the game professionally, semi-professionally, in college or in high school. Of that sample, 101 players, or just under 80 percent, tested positive for CTE.''

The NFL does have an image problem, and it goes well beyond domestic violence.

''While the settlement includes no admission of wrongdoing, actuarial data filed in federal court this month showed the NFL expects nearly a third of all retired players to develop a long-term cognitive problem, such as Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, as a result of football.''

    Classy.

Umm there's waivers, so no they're not.

Well let me slow down, if they are sued, I doubt Pop Warner loses.

Does anyone have a baseline for CTE in the general population?

Without reading, two very important things to know:

    1) Was there a control group of people who didn't play football tested?

    2) What constitutes brain disease? Does the damage affect quality of life?

Can anyone who read it comment on these?

I doubt there is a safe baseline to trust, CTE is determined after death, and unless your autopsy calls for the brain to be thoroughly examined I dont think we'd ever really know who out there has brain trauma.

    1. There wasn't a control group. Largely because CTE is only found in people who have had concussions or other injuries.

    2. The brain disease was CTE, and yes, it can greatly affect quality of life.
