I'm on board with going after guys like Worilds and even McCourty provided the Titans set a hard number they are willing to pay (that's reasonable) and don't feel like they have to make a big splash.

I'm not advocating the Titans not sign anyone. I just don't want any albatross contracts.

I mean... do I really have to explain it?

    Financially. Salary cap-wise. Dead money.

You know about the salary cap, right?

analysts say he could be a 2nd round pick.. they say that every year about QBs that end up being late round picks that do nothing in the NFL. Nothing that he did last season leads me to believe that he's going to turn into an NFL starter.

even if the 2nd round projection is accurate, I guarantee less than 10 percent of 2nd Round QBs end up being long-term starting material. first round is under 50 percent

Am I missing something here? I agree that just spending money doesn't always work and that building through good leadership/draft is where it's at, but there have been plenty of teams that have added FA pieces that have benefited. Don't make me go through the work of a list please lol....It's time we spend and draft better, plain and simple.

Building off this. Suh doesn't make sense, i'd love to have him - don't get me wrong. But, spending $100 million on him when we can draft Leonard Williams who can have the same type of impact makes way more sense.

Instead, we should focus on Devin McCourty, Dan Williams, and Jason Worilds. Then cheaper pickups of Mark Ingram & James Harrison.

    Draft:
    1st: Leonard Williams, DE, USC
    (flip #33 for a mid-2nd & 3rd)
    2nd: Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah
    3rd: Daryl Williams, RT, Oklahoma
    3rd: Josh Shaw, CB, USC
4th: Josh Harper, WR, Fresno St

Problem is, we still don't have a #1 WR after that.

I don't think there is a lot of danger if we do pay a lot for McCourty. Or Suh. Guys like that I don't mind because they'll still be good even when (if) Whis and co. are replaced next year. Worilds on the other hand would scare me if we overpaid as potential waste, but he is a guy I want us to target.
