Haynesworth at 27 was a fat slob, now removed from the game for so long, he's probably 400lbs..

I remember things a little differently. He was playing really good football the season before we tagged him and that's when we should have locked him up long-term. The more the FO dragged their feet on getting a deal done the clearer is became that he would bounce if we tagged him. Once we tagged him there was no more negotiating a long-term deal with us. Reinfeldt and Co. screwed the pooch. I'm sure he still wanted big money but I guarantee that it wouldn't have been near as close to that $100M deal.

Spilled milk at this point though. Ah but what could have been. Womp womp.

    You're absolutely right.

Haynesworth could have been one of the best DTs to ever play the game. 2007 and 2008 proved what kind of talent and athleticism he had. All he had to do was want it.

He was a guy who played football because he was good at it and he could make a lot of money doing it. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but once you get that carrot you still need to persevere and he quit.
