I mean, sure I'd take him. He would definitely make us better in the short-term. But I think signing him as 1-2 year stopgap could, could, potentially set us back in the long run. With a 3-4 you just gotta have a solid and dependable NT. And if Wilfork retires or is "done" by the time the rest of our team gets good then we're right back to square one at that position.

But I'm just talking here. I certainly won't be upset if we sign him. I just don't think 34 year old stopgap players need to be a high priority. But I'm sure the FO and coaching staff believes this team is "closer" than most of us fans do.

And let's be real here.... the Pats are typically pretty sharp and let guys go at just the right time. In fact, they are probably the best in the entire league at it. The fact that they didn't think this centerpiece NT was worth 8.9 million of their 143.28 million cap space makes me very hesitant.

Well thats dumb, Richard Seymour went out to Oakland for a while and was still dominate.

Deion Branch, Drew Bledsoe, Wes Welker, Damien Woody, Aqib Talib all good after New England.

Lets not act like Bill Belichick is perfect. Fred Taylor in 2010? What the hell did was that? Then Joseph Addai 2 years after? Another swing and a miss by Belichick.

True. But he knows not to overpay for a declining player most of the time. If he's letting Wilfork go, he know's he's not worth it.

Same situation last year, Pats consider cutting him, then Wilfork turns in another good season.

yes he isn't worth the 8mil a yr he was going to cost the Pats, but he will be worth 4mil playing for another team.

I don't see why a vet would want to join the Titans at this point if they only had 2-3 yrs left to play. Go play for less on a team that might contend.

If Knighton leaves Denver then I'd go sign Wilfork if I were them.

Well in this case, said player is coming from always winning, maybe he's in it for the fun and money now...?

This is exactly how I feel.

Wilfork is 33, has maybe 1-3 years left, at best. I'd be interested to see his snap count last year. At this age and his history, he probably wouldn't even answer the Titans call... he'll go to a contender.

Would rather go hard after Dan Williams.
