I'm liking Mariota at 2. Honestly I think he's the best chance we have at getting a franchise qb. The thing about Mariota is while he didnt run a pro style offense in college, at least he totally owned the offense he was in! Its not like he could have done much better given the circumstances. He is a tremendous talent and I have faith he can put it together here. At worst we get a locker whos accurate, and doesn't have a history of getting hurt. Sounds like a win to me!

If we can land some decent defensive FAs:

    #2: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
    Trade #33 back for a 2nd & 3rd
    2nd: Owamagbe Odihizuwa, OLB, UCLA
    3rd: Jake Fisher, RT, Oregon
    3rd: Josh Shaw, CB, USC
    4th: Kenny Bell, WR, Nebraska
    5th: Ellis McCarhty, NT, UCLA

Mariota's pro day is Thursday right? I'm sure we'll be there.. This is a big day for us.

I am not in favor of going after Mariota. I think he has a chance, but there is a lot of risk there imo. I would pair Leonard Williams w/ Casey and go after some other D FAs to build up that side of the ball such as Dan Willimas, McCourty, Worilds, etc.

I'm officially on the Mariota bandwagon.

-I see him as more than just a "system QB"
-We need a big time player and franchise player
-We'll finally get some excitement going
-Rather take a risk on another QB than a 3-4 DE

Nothing against Mett but I don't think his ceiling is anywhere near Mariota's. If we came out and had some big time signings then sure build around Mett and see what happens but I don't think that will be the case. Also, that's not an overreaction from today.

I'm starting to lean that way as well. If we pass on Mariota, and Mettenberger busts (which is more likely than him succeeding) i'll be pissed, especially when Mariota turns into a stud.

QB is simply more important than 34 DE. Give me Mariota and a 2nd round OLB.

Mariota is no sure thing. At all. He will be successful in Philly, but if he were to go to Tennessee I'm not so sure. I like Mettenberger, just need to surround him with a good team and I think he can be a solid player.

Agreed, he fits Whiz system better...That said, I won't be shocked if the Titans take him. System or not, he provides a spark and athleticism/depth at the position. The closer we get, the more I feel like they will take him or an OLB if they don't trade it away.

I'm in that boat as well. Plenty of good OLBs available in the 2nd, especially where we're picking.
