It might seem insane, but Chip Kelly is an offensive genius. The guy went 10-6 and put up the third highest scoring offense in the NFL with Nick Foles and Mark Sanchez at QB. To Kelly, it doesn't matter who he has on offense-it's his system that is the star.

Think about what he did at Oregon, put up huge offensive numbers with guys who couldn't make it in the pros. He simply doesn't value offensive players like most do. Once again, he believes his system will work with whoever he slots in.

Pretty much everyone who was successful with Chip Kelly in 2013-2014 was already a member of the Eagles when he showed him. He went 10-6 with Vick/Foles and 9-7 with Foles/Sanchez. 6-2 with Foles, 3-5 without him last season.

You can be an offensive genius and be a horrible GM of the team.

Also, Oregon is not the NFL. That's what he's not getting. Even an offensive genius needs good talent on offense. I'm not saying they don't have talent, but they just traded away Foles (who was very successful as their starter) for a guy who's paid 10x as much and isn't even as good... Never healthy. No more McCoy. No more Maclin. We'll see.

He better find a way to get Mariota (and we better sell that pick)... Or else he will fail with Bradford/Sanchez.

He was 10-6 last year. 5.5-2 with Foles, 4.5-4 with Sanchez. Sanchez actually put up better numbers than Foles.

We will see how he pans out as a GM, but the fact remains-he values his system above the players. A guy named Bill Belicheck does the same thing, and he's been pretty successful.

Jags pushing hard for Demarco Murray.. tarp kitties having a very solid summer (House, Odrick, Skurta, Parmell & Thomas).. House & Odrick should be solid, Skurta & Parnell are HUGE toss ups, jury is out on Thomas... But if they add Murray, I'll be scared.

My bad. Thought they were 9-7 for whatever reason... point is they started 6-2 with Foles and finished 4-4 with Sanchez... and the two games they lost with Foles were very competitive. Sanchez got handled a few times.

Numbers don't tell the whole story... Foles had a down season for sure, but Sanchez was worse.

But yea... we'll see. I expect him to fail hard.

Are you gonna be happier if they take Melvin Gordon or Gurley in the draft?

I need to see what this pick swap and 2016 conditional pick is in this trade which - to me - is the most interesting part. Either he is just trying to get more picks and that was the easiest way to do it - which I doubt - or he needs multiple picks and the player in order to make the Mariota deal. swapping say a 2nd and 3rd round picks (2's for 2's and 3's for 3's) would increase the value of the picks he could trade AND he still has a starting QB to trade to a team that wants/needs one...us, Jets, Browns?

The other way to see this is that he has limited hope he can get Mariota...basically if he falls to 10 he can trade back with the Rams. Or, Mariota goes to the Jets and Chip now how more picks to grab a couple of WR's in a loaded class and get another rb in the mid-rnds. He can probably also take a Bryce Petty or Hundley in the mid-late rnds and develop them as QB's for his system since they are read/option/spread QB's! In the meantime, he spends on D.

I can see it working, but for most people, it looks like insanity....gave up his 2 starting QB's, top 2 wr's, one of the best rb's in the NFL and a vet OG....and for all of that they got back a injury plagued QB and a young LB coming off an acl.

    Let the madness begin!

But you have to think. This is his master plan to turn them into the Philla Ducks. Just throw a bill on there wings and change there dark green to neon and you have it. Plus there draft is going to be the best Oregon player left on the board

Both of them will really flourish with the Colts. I hope the Colts draft neither one. I don't think they will draft either one in the first round, which is good because neither will be around in the 2nd by time they select. Then again, there's always a trade.
