That pro day was quite telling IMO. Ive suspected he'll struggle early making the switch to under center, and yesterday proved that to be somewhat true.

His stock has to be down ATM.

I think that it has been overblown on this site quite a bit, but it was somewhat "ho-hum" from what I understand. I was listening to Gil Brandt on NFL Radio while it was going on and he was sort of tap dancing around questions about it...I took that as a bad sign.

I think brees is one of the best qbs in the league, but only has 2,3 or 4 years left in the tank. The titans are not one or two players away from being a contender. For that reason i wouldn't want brees as part of the deal. I would rather them trade him for more picks and then use the extra picks to move to #2. I wouldn't take any qb over 30 in a trade for the #2.

There is no way that the Saints would ever do that deal. Of course we, on the other hand, would take that in a heartbeat, I would hope.

Think about it... they're gonna give us a Hall of Fame QB and three picks in the top 45 for a huge question mark in Mariota? That doesn't make any sense... even if Brees only has a couple seasons left.

To me, Brees is an after-thought in this deal ... If the Saints want to get to #2 to take MM, then they obviously don't need/want Brees. The Titans will know that, and use that as leverage. Brees also only has probably 2 years left ... you don't give up draft picks for 2 years.

So basically it is just trading picks at that point. Based on history, I would say what I am asking for is not unreasonable for a team to move from 13 to 2.

Not saying the Saints would do it, but the Titans have to put a value on the #2 pick and stick with it. Can't just take whatever deal is offered ... that is my value for the #2 pick.

Oh I dont doubt his IQ, he's very bright, I mean Oregon allowed him full reign on their offense. My hang up with him is very little of what NFL teams will ask him to do will feel second nature. In his pro day he looked rigid, nothing flowed well. Thats gonna take a lot of reps to get over...

Absolutely....think people. We have the #2 pick. Is it more valuable to others if they think that we plan to pick an awesome Mariota with it or Williams? In order to make a case for Mariota he cannot look bad in our eyes....period.

This puff piece is absolutely nothing but spin. It really does not matter how MM did in these venues (he may have done well for that matter)....the reporting will be that he is the next coming of Peyton Manning from the "football smarts" side and very good physically. Any other report diminishes the value of our #2 pick to others, which decreases our leverage and reduces our options with the pick.

I don't see any way in hell that happens. Honestly, I think fans and media put more emphasis on pro days than the actual teams do. Not saying they don't take it into consideration. But I don't believe a pro day is going to make or break team's opinion either way. They are going to be looking at the entire package and a number of different factors.

Anyone can have an off day. And I can only imagine the nerves these guys must feel during these pro days. I'm really not trying to defend Mariota. I'm on record as not being totally sold on the guy (though I still think we should roll the dice on him). I'm just saying the pro day isn't the end all, be all. Some great QBs have had less than spectacular pro days and plenty of busts have had great pro days. You can't truly simulate the actual in-game experience.

I saw where his pro day was compared to Andrew Luck's. And last I checked that guy is doing pretty well.

Yea, what you're asking wouldn't be unreasonable at all if a team was desperate for a QB. The Saints aren't. I get that Brees doesn't have much left in the tank, but I am positive Payton believes he can still win a Super Bowl with Brees at QB if he builds the rest of the team properly.

I could see them wanting Mariota if he fell to #13... draft him and let him backup Brees for a couple years. Otherwise, I don't see it.
