Signing Harrison isn't to 'put us over the top'....but more to give us a good vet with experience and to give us better play should he/if he needs to play. Right now if Orakpo is hurt, who can come in and give us a pass rush at OLB. Harrison is better than anything currently on the roster.

I totally agree our goal should always be talent in the draft and 27yrs or less in FA with production (hard to find and expensive but worth it). If there was a player like that who wasn't franchised at OLB, that's where we should go.

In the meantime, we need to fill some holes and filling them cheaply with a guy who could play well if necessary is a good idea. Especially at the most important position in a 3-4 D!!!

If Harrison is brought here, it'll be to backup OLB and to set an example of how hard you have to work in practice, weight room, and how to become a great player. Harrison did it the hard and long way and he definitely teaches by example because he isn't gonna coach them up with his voice. That's what he did in Cincy. He sets a tone with his focus and attitude and we need some of that too. Too many whispers of certain players not caring about winning and not caring about getting better.

And frankly, Wimbley is the vet I'd cut loose as he isn't productive and is more expensive. Have Harrison be the vet backup and draft us some rookies!!!

I agree on what you said above, but there was still great players to be had. Didn't a Pro Bowl LG become available in Iupati? No interest. Bulaga made it to negotiating weekend and clearly, we weren't interested enough to stop him from going back to GB for less than $7mil/yr. Wasn't there a really good OC available? No interest. Percy Harvin? No interest. Brandon Marshall...a #1 WR for a 5th rnd pick and cheap at less than $8mil/yr? No interest. You get the point.

There were players available to seriously upgrade our offense. If we offered Bulaga $9mil a yr and he went back to the pack, I got no problems with Webster. If we didn't show interest or only as much as GB, BAD Webster. Remember, we paid one of the worst RT's in the league over $6mil last year and get to eat like $2mil in dead cap to get rid of him.

We aren't throwing more money at the guard position while Levitre is here. And regardless of your opinion on him, it's pretty clear the Titans don't think he's bad enough to warrant cutting him.

Bulaga wanted to be in Green Bay. He didn't even visit anywhere else.

I'm not sure why you think going after Harvin is any sort of upgrade. Harvin has a major attitude problem. And he was just released from a team that needs WR's in a major way.

Marshall is the only player worthy of consideration, and even he doesn't come without baggage. He, like Harvin, has an attitude problem along with injuries and getting old. If he is playing in 2 years, I'll be surprised.

I'm not saying RW is an awesome GM by any means, but he's done a good job, at least this offseason. Overall in FA, he's been very hit or miss. Biggest hit has clearly been Walker. Probably his biggest blunder (other than Oher) IMO, is letting Verner go to Tampa for an under market contract. No reason why we shouldn't have retained him considering what he signed for.

Dis agree. Just because he didn't visit didn't mean he didn't explore his FA options or he would have signed that contract BEFORE the negotiation weekend. Basically, his agent got to field offers from other teams and compare them to what GB had on the table. Most likely if someone offered significantly more, he wouldn't be in GB on an avg contract.

Agree that Harvin has attitude problems and for that reason you don't sign him to a long term deal but one he has to earn each year (and allows you to cut him if he becomes a problem) in structure. Although he was a major headache for Seattle, he knew he had to earn his keep in NY and he was not a problem at all here. He was cut for 2 reasons. Marshall was aquired and is a better WR, and Harvin has a $10.5mil salary he would have gotten if he stayed and Jets didn't want to pay that. Whiz made a point in wanting playmakers and having a 'mismatch' offense and Harvin is that. Basically, he can do what we tried to get McCluster to do...be a part time WR, RB, PR though Harvin is actually good at the RB part and is an excellent KR. He can also get you big plays without having to be on the field all the time. And that's the bottom line. He would bring playmaking ability to a team lacking in that but I wouldn't want him at any price nor at any structure type of contract. But at least pursue the guy and see what he wants and have a conversation.

I consider Levitre, Oher and Griffin's newest contract his biggest blunders in free agency (off the top of my head). I don't blame him for Verner as much as others though I don't know the details. The fact that Verner took a below market value contract to leave tells me he didn't want to stay here. On the other hand, it's possible they told him he's not in our plans for the future, but you'd think (HOPE) they would have offered him at least a below market contract (similar to what he took) to stay. I didn't think they'd offer him $8mil a year like McCourty but thought maybe they'd go as high as the $6mil range.

I just read Perish Cox led the league in pass interference penalties, but then I go to look it up and 2 sources say different... Am I reading this wrong?

Cox was one the least penalized DBs in the league for 2014. Browner was #1 at 13 and our boy blidi was 5th with 10.
