Idk who this Ashley girl is but she needs to stop being a little ***** about it.

If you cant handle the social media then maybe you shouldn't be using it.

And of all things to do, criticizing a college sports team is asking for it when you are on the platform.

I don't think the government will spend enough money to track down these people. There's not much to be gained. They can symbolically arrest a few, but that far from solves the problem.

The solution is for classy people to stay out of the mud, and let the idiot pigs roll around in it. By being on twitter, and then saying things that get people riled up, she basically stepped in the pig pen.

There are so many thousands of these per day, that the only way to stop it, is to live your life with some discretion, and don't put yourself out there online to be scrutinized.

This is in no way condones their actions... they are just scum of the earth, and I have come to expect nothing better from these turds.

PS. I have forgotten to mention that I really have no idea who she is, and I'm not going to give her more publicity by googling her.

Oh, I don't expect to see any real type of solution. Maybe fine companies if they are not taking appropriate action to limit this. Record companies did it with pirating, I'd imagine ISPs could do something similar.

I just find it a bit off putting that a solution being considered here is, 'just ignore it'. Do we really want that type of mentality on the net? At one point will it just overwhelm the internet?

I see where she retweeted that one user that called her a whore c---.. but did anyone actually say they were going to cause her bodily harm in one fashion or another? I havent seen anything as of yet. If anyone else has, please post

While it's obviously inappropriate, and childish, to hurl those sort of insults at her on social media.. unless someone actually issued a direct threat to her I'm not sure what her case will be.

Judd excused her original tweet when she said that Arkansas was playing dirty as something she fired off in the heat of the moment. With that said, even though the responses my have been inappropriate.. were they not too fired back in the heat of the moment? ... That may be a stretch.

It looks like some of Judd's friends/supporters are firing back at those that made inappropriate comments.. which is completely fair game. But as far as pressing charges.. harassment is the only thing I can fathom but I'm not sure that's going to stick. Can you imagine charging everyone with harassment that ever says a mean thing to you via social media, gaming networks, etc..?

The only point I disagree on is the "making an example" out of someone thing.. Either we punish everyone uniformly or we punish no one. If punishment isn't fit for everyone then we shouldnt apply it to just one person..

That's just an opinion of mine in general regardless of where it's applied.

I agree with everything you've said.
The difference between The record company and this is: Record companies were losing millions in sales. There is not really any money lost for twitter at this point. It takes a lot of money to put out legislation, and while harassment is a universal problem, it's not a problem of taking money away from anyone, and there's no money to be gained, so it will get the "sweep under the rug" treatment. there are no backdoor bribes going on to politicians to stop bad talk on Twitter, and in the end, that's all that's important to them, IMO. It will be on Twitter to ban people, but there are always ways around that.

I'm afraid it has already taken over the internet. It has given the ugly side of people free reign that they never had before in human history: almost complete anonymity.

Anywhere where there is unrestricted speech on the internet, there is pure hatred, filth, and idiocy.

    It is so saturated that
to ignore it, or getting yourself off the social media map completely, is the only way to get away from it. Even if it isn't something illegal, people will still harass you constantly about looks or anything else. It's easier than ever.

Some of these celebrities are the reason why hate shaming celebs on social media is getting worse and worse & and it's things like this.

If you're famous, its a good tool to promote your product either if it's movies, music, art, etc. It's a good way to keep fans informed of tour dates, release dates, signings, meet & greets. Also if you want, a way to reach out and talk or engage with your fan base if you want.

So many fans just want their favorite celebrity to acknowledge them (which must be super annoying) in the form of a tweet, favorite, retweet, etc.

But most of the time they don't acknowledge the people who do that, which is understandable cause they probably get swarmed with it.

What I don't understand is why they enable people that talk **** and purposely try to get a rise out them.

People have figured out a celeb will much more like respond to hate than anything nice or flattering.

Even people will send awful crap to get a response and when they do they will reply something like "oh it's not like that, i've been trying to get a response from you for months. you're actually my favorite athlete/singer/whatever. Have a good weekend!"

Maybe if a lot of them just ignored stuff like this some of the tweets they get wouldn't be as bad or maybe they'd get less.
