Tommy was offered this job and declined years ago when Bud's health began to decline. It isn't any surprise he "retired" now as his heart has never really been in doing the job. And it wasn't any coincidence his announcement came on the same day the "extended" deadline season ticket payments were due.

I can only respect Tommy for pulling himself out of this mess. But it was
disingenuous for him to have taken it to begin with. There is a plan in play here. It may be that Schefter's rumors/speculation about a sale was simply a premature assumption based on whisperings this upcoming "retirement".

And don't anybody get too excited about Steve Underwood manning the helm. Last time he directed the franchise, he was largely responsible for hiring Reinfeldt. And he has duplicate responsibilities with KSA industries as well.

One can only surmise that Ken Adams IV is getting groomed to take over, but why would he be receiving his training within this organization and he has been at it now for 3 or 4 years right?

Let's be real as well... Dude ain't gonna live much longer anyways.

Glad he stepped down though. It's better than being stubborn, sitting back, and watching hopelessly as your family's organization is run into the ground.

Honestly I wish they would just go ahead and hand him the damn reigns if that is the plan. I don't really care that he's young. Maybe that'd actually be a good thing rather than the decrepit out of touch old fogeys we've been accustomed to.

And it seems silly to me to go from Tommy to an "interim CEO" to a "stopgap CEO" just to hand the keys to the grandson in a few years, assuming that's the plan.

I honestly don't know what the plan is and why they grandson hasn't taken over by now. He may just not be up to it- I don't know. If he were my grandson, I'd have called in a favor to another franchise- like the Packers or Pats and had him scrub floor his way up into management order to bring fresh ideas and contacts into this franchise. I still think a sale is a very real possibility despite the statement(s) from Tommy Smith.

There is nothing in the immediate good with how this has been and is being handled from a fan standpoint. It just wasn't a coincidence to me that TS announced his retirement at the end of the day where they had "extended" the season ticket payment deadline.

If that's the case (and I've no clue if it is) he shouldn't get the job. It has to someone who loves the game.

It's entirely possible I am making this up.

No need to make things up. Just use a credible reference.
