They need someone that has no ties, experience, and motivated to turn this thing around...It's really old.....

FRED SMITH!! He should be already getting his $$$$ and paperwork in order to buy the team. This is the easiest and most logical thing to do. Its so easy and makes so much sense that i'm afraid it wont happen. These things do take time though and most happens behind the scenes so maybe it already is. Make it final this time next year and intro Fred Smith with his new President and CEO.....PEYTON MANNING! Im afraid it makes too much sense...

The Climer editorial (linked to it from your article) is spot on IMO.

I really think that, 5 years from now, people will look at this decision by Tommy as a pivotal turning point for the positive. It sounds like the movement is towards more local engagement (CEO located in Nashville). Whether this CEO works for the Adams family or whether it is the start of a transition to a local ownership group, I see this as a positive move.

Now, how long it takes to climb out of this abyss is still to be determined.

The best part about this, IMO, is that everyone is now on notice.

Webster was Tommy's boy. He seemed to put a lot of his faith in him to put the right head coach in place. If we don't see significant improvement this season, I expect we'll see Webster gone with Whiz not far behind as the new person in charge will want to make a statement.

    I don't know if even starting a rookie QB in 2015 gives Webster/Whiz a built-in excuse.

In the past, Bud would keep people around because he hated the thought of paying someone to play golf as he paid out the rest of their contracts. Any new CEO/President is going to step in with full authority to do whatever it takes which, no doubt, will include cleaning as much of the house as needed.

I really can't see how this can be anything but a positive turn for the team and the community.

The Titans staying in TN, but not being ran by Smith is not the worst news to hear.

Ive never spent too much time trashing Tommy but from day-1 he seemed overwhelmed being CEO. I was hopeful he could grow into the position, but I think he's all he's going to be, and apparently he felt the same way.

Oh well..... We're better off not having him half ass this thing any further...
