I'll laugh if any team trades up to take Mariota.

I'll be distraught and not watching as many games if we do.

why? he could run away when the line breaks down, we would actually be entertaining because of him

He's boring as hell. but I wouldn't hate the pick. There is no question we need a QB

Drew Brees is boring as hell, Tom Brady is pretty boring, Peyton Manning? OMG over the top boring, yet they're all great QB's.

If you want personality stay with Mett, however notice how much he's toned it down? Just cause a guy doesn't act a fool doesn't mean he has no personality.

I think teams are catching on that it takes more than legs to win.

Mariota could actually be successful (running) his first season, however the league will figure him out and then its up to his arm. Thats something he has never shown he had.

Exactly why I said I wouldn't hate the pick, we need a QB. Locker was a class act, but he sucked and couldn't stay healthy. The difference is, Mariota is more accurate coming out of college and smarter with the football. He is also just as athletic (minus the strong arm). I am fine with this pick if they go this route honestly, and it wouldn't surprise me. This crap always happens when it gets closer. Temptation wins out. ;)

It definitely does take more than legs, I myself have said I dont want a mobile QB due to the idea they never take that next step pocket passers are forced to figure out.

But duel threats give you an added dimension. 2006 and 2010 were magical because of the effect Vince Young had, no one could ever truly bottle him up, then when CJ came along, scary..

If I could have my pick Id take Winston every time, he's shown his game will translate to the NFL. Mariotas game leaves you wondering, but I still think he could adjust over time.

Mariota could turn into Aaron Rodgers, or he could be a no name in 5 years. He's a risky pick no doubt.

I'd rather have Winston, but Mariota def isn't a guarnteed bust like some people seem to believe. Mariota is an elite athlete, with a strong arm, and a good work ethic. If it wasn't for his gimmick offense at Oregon, he'd probably be #1.

I posted this in another thread back in Dec '14:

Makes me wonder what changed. I use to love Mariota, was hoping we'd somehow end up with #1 to draft him (thinking that TB would take him #1). Bottom line is he has all the tools to be an elite QB, and we have a head coach that (hopefully) can groom him into just that.

If we stay at #2, i'm edging towards Mariota over LW. This will change probably by tomorrow though.
