They do need to do something.... WIN!

If Mariota is a total whiff, like Locker, we are even more screwed. LW will probably not be JJ Watt. But if he is a good starter for 10 years, and pairs well with Casey, the team will be better and that will be seen in the W/L column.

Don't draft Mariota just because, believe in him as the QB for this team to draft him. I do NOT want Mariota if (and it would) that means we bypass QBs next season in free agency or draft just because we drafted him. I'm really scared of his fit with Whisenhunt and I don't see Mariota making us better next year, I see him sitting on the bench. That does not excite me as a season ticket holder.

The Colts draft a QB and he turns out to be a franchise guy. They're winning the division every year despite not really having a whole lot else on the team.

Texans have the best defensive player in the NFL, some WRs and a pretty good run game. They're at the bottom with the Titans.

I hope we trade down and fill holes but, Mett and clipboard jesus as the only real qb on the roster is a major concern. Mett maybe fine but clipboard should not be on any nfl roster and if he is the back up we are in trouble. I would love to see us trade with cleveland and get 12 and 19 and grab a NT and another edge rusher.

So you think Mariota will be as good as Luck then?

Where did I say that? If the Titans think Mariota can be their guy then you don't pass on that chance.

Franchise QBs have a much bigger impact than 3-4 DEs. It's just up to the Titans to decide if Mariota is the man or not. If not, I hope someone else really really likes him and is ready to move up.

Exactly. It's amazing how many fans don't realize the dire need for a franchise QB above all else and that until a team has one, they will remain at the bottom of the league.

You simply cannot reach the playoffs year in, year out, without a marquee QB. People always try to point to the very few exceptions (Ravens going to the SB with Trent Dilfer), but when you survey the teams that reach the playoffs year after year, it's because they already have their franchise QB. There is no more opportune time to secure one (at least attempt to) than when you are picking among the first 5 in the draft.

My personal feeling on the matter come not from what the NFL pundits say who we should take....but from watching the guy play and from observing what our greatest need is. If Locker had stayed healthy, he probably would be playing at an NFL starting level, and thus we would be in a position to take a player, like Williams at a position we really don't need (DE)

the ideal situation would be trading with San Diego.

2nd pick for rivers and a couple picks. we get a franchise qb who has proven he can win with wiz. A guy who has been keeping a sub par team relevant for many years and who still has a good 5 or 6 years left. Not to mention the extra picks.

Would I trade it straight up? No...but give me rivers and your 1st and I'm all over it.

I could deal with a straight up trade of Rivers JUST TO MOVE UP to the 2nd pick...meaning they give us Rivers AND their 1st rd pick (17). But some of the NFL pundits and goofy SD fans are trying to say we'd have to give up the No.2 overall and multiple picks...which is BS. Others teams would have to mortgage their future (multiple 1st Rd pick, a 2nd and 4th) just to move up, and these yahoos think we'd let them have it for Rivers plus more picks.

That's why I don't see it happening. Rivers (at $15mill/yr and on the last year of his contract) ain't worth a 1st rd pick that high, straight up. We're better off, in the long run taking Mariota at No.2. I think he is the next Andrew Luck, because even though he hasn't played in a pro-style offense, I've watched him play a handful of games and always came a way super impressed, as he exhibits almost all of the same traits.

Same here. I'd give up #2 for Rivers and their 1st all day long. I don't think SD will deal him though.
