There's hope for Mett IMO. He throws a catchable ball that's on the money. It was quite a relief to see that following Locker and Whitehursts play.

As for his mechanics, yea maybe about as rough as Rusty, but Rusty flat out sucked, not the case with Mett, there's something there. NFL stud? Probably not but come on, you can't really say he's Rusty Smith bad, that's as low as it gets.

So we should put all our chips in a 4th rounder who proved nothing, old/mediocre pito, and klug?

Rusty has 234 career passing yards in 3 games, with 4 INTs, 0 TDs, and a 29.3 QB rating.

I personally believe we should build a team around Mettenberger, if he fails, next years QB will need a team around him as well. I just have my doubts about Mariota, enough doubt to not want him at #2.

I agree, next year if Mett isn't the answer sign Rivers if he stays in SD this year or even Eli Manning may be available in FA. Not that I'm a big fan of Eli.

It's a matter of need man. I'm still putting RT, WR, and OLB before DE as a need. RB is questionable, but with investing a 2nd in Sankey, we can hold-off until the 4th for a RB. CB is the same, we just invested in Cox and have young guys, so could see DE being more of a need.

RT - obvious, we need a day 1 starter
WR - Hunter has been a bust, Wright is no more than a good slot guy, and Douglas is already 30 and isn't anything special. No threats at WR on this team, nothing that scares a defense.
OLB - Orakpo is always hurt, Morgan is solid, zero serviceable depth.

For me, it's a no-brainer to go RT, WR, and OLB before DE.

& if those guys do resign with their teams, draft a QB. There's a solid crop of QBs that could come out next year, although alot can change between now and then. Do you risk the next 5 years of your franchise on a potentially good QB class in 2016?

    Riddle me this good sir,
If you have little faith in Orakpo, and notice the lack of depth as a driving reason for OLB being a high priority, then why in the heck does QB not top the list of needs? This is a QB league, Mett hasn't exactly been healthy, and the depth there is scary awful.

QB at No.2 is the way to go. Worst case scenario; we end up with 2 good QB's.

Only way I dont want LW is if we trade down.

Drafting by need could lead to picks like Jake Locker.

Drafting the BPA lands players like Lewan.
