Rumor Draft Rumors Ramping Up

Anyone who will jump ship to the falcons because we don't draft xyz player isn't much of a titans fan.

 

We decided to pass on a franchise QB last draft because we were still evaluating the previous "franchise" QB, who was in his last year of his rookie contract. Honestly, I am not too upset about that either, since I am not overly enthusiastic about any of the top drafted rookies from last season anyway.

This whole implication that we have not been looking for "franchise" QBs is just flat out wrong. This season, IF there was a legitimate "franchise" QB available, I would be right there with you clamoring for drafting him. That simply does not exist this draft (maybe on Winston, but he is as good as a Buccaneer already).

Also, while I am not 100% sold on Mett, I am not going to hate on him like you obviously are intent on doing. He has earned another look from us IMO....but with more than CBJ waiting in the wings, which is why my top choice is to trade down and get someone like a Rivers and multiple draft choices for our #1.

 

The only thing I don't like with Rivers is a high salary and age...He isn't the long term fix. First and foremost, I'm a Titans fan, so I'll rally behind whoever they take. That said bro, I still think they go QB or WR at #2. Glaring holes/depth issues there, and they patched up the D and brought in Lebeau. Naturally, this is if they don't trade back. I also have this gut feeling that if they were to go D, it wouldn't be LW. I think they would go pass rusher like Fowler, etc...I could be dead wrong, but the signs are there.

 

Totally agree...the trade for Rivers is more for the additional draft picks, with the added benefit of having a legitimate franchise QB for a couple of years (giving us time to really vet Mett and/or pick our opportunity on a future QB in the draft....we can trade up as well at some point it should be remembered).

Based on what I am seeing out there currently, I would be looking for a 2-ish year fix at this point. Longer term fixes (true franchise QBs with more tread on their tires) are not going to be available due to the shortage of good QBs in the league IMO. That can only come from the draft in the foreseeable future....just not in this years' draft IMO.

 

Worst case scenario in that is actually that Metenberger plays like Mettenberger and gets hurt Mariota doesn't get time to develop, we have a 6-10 season and are once again not in a position to draft an elite QB.

It's not a bad thing to draft Mariota, but I don't think he's the best fit here for his skill sets. Winston or trade.

 

Best case scenario is still trading with the browns. Think we can get #12, #19 plus their second this year and a 1 or 2 next year. That's 4 top 50 picks. We need that. If we can grab a WR, RT, OLB, and G/RB in the top 50. That's a great way to start the rebuild plus our FA.

 

If we can get 12, 19 & 43 (plus keep our 33) and a 1st year next, sign me up for that trade with Cleveland.

 

Id take 12, 19, and their second in a heartbeat.

I'm hearing the Jets are Really interested in Mariotta... If this is the case, how would you all feel if the titans traded Back to 6? Do you like the chances of williams still being available at 6? Also what could we pick up if we did trade, 2015 3rd rounder and a 2016 1st rounder or 2nd rounder? Not sure if the Jets would be willing to give up their First next year to jump Four spots this year.. Opinions...
