So I will revise my statement, no one worth a damn thought he was a second round pick.

 

I hated Mettenberger leading up to the draft, but I said he'd be worth a shot in the 4th. So I do think he was a great value pick even if he's only a backup.

Remember all of us wanting Murray last year?... Wonder if he's progressed from his injury at all.

How can you seriously compare Mariota to Locker and say Mett was better in college?

I'm sorry but just from that I can tell you either never watched Mett in college, you have no clue about anything, or both.

Locker was terrible in college and anyone with a brain and functioning eyes knew that. Going by stats Mett was closer to Locker in every category than Mariota but neither are particularly close to Locker.

If you watch highlights of Mett he looks great but if you watched entire games of his then you would see the real story. He would seemingly alternate between amazing throws and THE DUMBEST DECISIONS POSSIBLE. That obviously carried over to year one in the NFL with a sub 60% completion percentage and bad TD/INT ratio.

Now maybe Mett turns out alright, but under no circumstances has he shown the team shouldn't draft another QB if they feel he could be the franchise QB and Mariota certainly might be that.

 

I was on the Murray bandwagon.... all things considered, we did get a pretty good value at 6 last year.

 

I just think that today's NFL relies more on the quarterback than any other position. I understand if you disagree, but I don't think the "ground and pound" works anymore, where a QB threat with no run game can still win championships (Patriots). Of course the balance of the 2 is better than one of either (Seahawks), but more teams are in playoffs only having great QB's compared to teams that only have great running backs.

 

Makes good sense. As a fan tho I'm enjoying the mystery whether we take Mariota,Williams or trade back , I'm looking forward to some excitement and the unpredictability in the draft and the off season. It beats the crap out of watching that 2-14 regular season with Whisenhunt and Pollard talking that same garbage after every game and BWW miss on Dalton haunts me every day. We were fairies with NO identity. This year either we get to see a new QB and or a potentially revamped D with Dick. We'll see. Hopefully the damned season isn't over by the first 4 games. I guess trade back for a bundle would be my preference but I'm teetering between Mariota,Williams or even receiver.
