Rivers would be the dumbest move this org can make. He's old, he's not going to get better, he's got a huge contract, and there's no guarantee he's going to resign (why would he).

Not as bad for a QB, he has at least 4 more years

    no he doesn't

Tom Brady or Manning at 33, sure. Rivers at 33 is an unknown. He could very well retire in two years. Especially if he is on a team with no shot.

    I would if it was Rivers, Chargers 2015 1st, Chargers 2015 2nd, Chargers 2015 4th, Chargers 2016 1st.

That's the best I can do...

I would take Rivers and picks, but not straight up for the #2 at age 33. I'd rather take my chances with Mariota being good for 10-12 years. A QB for 3-4 years is not rebuilding the team, it's kicking the can down the road. If Rivers were 27 then different story.

Anybody is an unknown once the reach 30. They could decline any time. Remember how amazing Nmandi Assmansuga was? Not even in the league anymore. A league where Bleedy Ray is playing over Nmandi. Champ Bailey played well in his early 30s.

Im sure you can do that with every position.
