I would take this in heartbeat if it included swapping 1sts. How you can be against getting a the best qb our franchise has ever seen is beyond me. No bs I would take Rivers over McNair all day. Get Rivers and and have a fighting shot at playoffs, or pick in the top 10 again next year. Choice is simple. We aren't contending any time soon without a qb.

Straight up for #2 is a little iffy to me, but I would probably still do it. I'm sick and tired of sucking.

This would also give us some time to find a qb of the future and let him sit and learn. I think Mett could use some time to learn the game, or we could find a different guy as well.

You can't compare position players to a qb. Look at all the qbs recently playing well into their late 30s and still being effective.

Aaron Rodgers is 31. Would you trade #2 for him?

34 when his contract is up.

We pay him what? $50 million for 3 years? In a position where age will likely affect him (it affects everyone).

    Too much of a risk.

    30? Sure.

34 and up for a new contract? No.

If Wizzy wants Rivers, he should trade down from #2 for a bunch of picks, use those picks to help build a solid foundation, then sign Rivers next year when he's a free agent and we aren't so devoid of talent.

Rivers for #2 would just be stupid.

If Rivers isn't traded this year then he will either sign a long term deal or get franchised tagged next year. The Bolts aren't just gonna let him walk next yr

Because at best, it's 4 years, and short term. At worst. It's one year.

We want a guy for 10+ years, not be adequate enough to be a one-and-done playoff team and pick 20 until we have to do it all again.

What's wrong with being good short term? This gives us a chance to be good while grooming a young qb to take over. Rather be good short term than miss on another qb and suck another 4 years.
