Because its not good. Its adequate.

We were adequate under Munch and still dont have a QB.

We took a shot at one. We are clamoring to do so again (in what is IMO a similar reach). Reaching and failing on franchise QB attempts is why we don't have a QB.

In the interim if we have a shot at a proven starter with 2-3 years of tread left, along with additional draft picks in a draft where I do not see a franchise QB, I am all over that.

Does anyone here think Rivers is the difference between 2-14 and a deep playoff run for the Titans next season?

I think the bigger question is the talent around him...Hunter,Wright, Douglas Sankey?? Rivers had success with Royal, Floyd, Jackson and Mathews. Outside of Jackson and Gates...An ok group but not great.
Delanie Walker I think would have a great year with Rivers.

We won't be sniffing the playoffs next season in any scenario that I can see right now.

However, I do see Rivers, along with the extra draft picks we get for trading down, allowing us to be competitive this season (maybe 6-8 wins).

I think there are too many holes and Rivers isn't close to good enough to compensate for that. The Titans are in rebuild mold and I see a couple of 8-8 seasons with Rivers at QB before the Titans are back where they are now looking for a QB.

I can imagine Rivers waking in a cold sweat this morning thinking about being the starting QB for the Titans.

You're probably right. I'm all for Rivers but not giving up #2 (especially straight up) for the reasons you said.

Like Cheesehead said with extra picks it would be beneficial.

How many sb has rivers been to. With as many good squads as he has been a part of. Imo, rivers is just a day late and a dollar short all the time. Idt its going to change now that hes 75 years old.
