    1. Because I think he could be great and want him to have a 2nd season to prove it.
    2. I want us to trade out of the #2 pick and stockpile high picks
    3. If Mettenberger fails to light a fire we'll draft high again next year and have another shot at a QB

    Rivers.....conditional on what the full deal looks like (see other thread on this).

    Mett may be good, but getting a year or so to groom behind an established pro would be very helpful for him IMO. Yes, Rivers is a douche, but when douches play for us they become spirited (see Cortland Finnegan).

    Deal has to be right though....none of that lottery nonsense that JCB is spewing.

    Did he win a SB that year?

    Did he play in the SB year?

    I said "SB contender", not "win a lot of games". Kerry Collins can win a lot of games for the right team, I don't care about winning a lot of games, I care about winning a SB.

    Also, if he improved us by five games we'd be 7-9, back to drafting too late in the first round for Webster to be able to do anything productive for us.
