Mariota vs. Leonard Williams vs. Trade

Very little questions tho

 

The Oregon offense is based off reading the D and going through progressions a fast as possible.

Often could run, play action, screen and throw it deep in the same play.

Mariota had to be able to go through his progressions quickly.

He had multiple reads nearly every play.

 

Ian Rapoport just said on Path to the Draft that the Titans are open to trading #2, but it would take "a lot, a REAL lot, to move up to #2." Also made it seem like they haven't ruled out taking Mariota.

 

That makes sense. I wouldn't trade unless something big.

 

Which means they like whoever they have targeted "a REAL lot" and that is rarely a defensive lineman with questionable athletic ability that feels like Tyson Jackson v2.0

Smells like QB IMO


Then again, we are the Titans and Webster is the GM so who the **** knows

 

Well if THEY feel there is a franchise QB there they need to draft him. If not, try and trade down to get a WR and a RT. Maybe a OLB.

You have no idea how that Oregon offense works do you?

You can complain about it not being "pro style", not taking snaps under center, running the option but the fact that Mariota had to make multiple reads on many plays is not really debatable.

It is kind of the basis of their scheme.

 

Seems to have more questions than a franchise QB should have

Never played in a pro style offense, but a gimmicky spread option offense
Never had to anticipate throws
Players were always open, barely had to throw into tight windows
Ran more than a qb should
Never dropped back from under center, always was in shotgun and barely had to audible
The list goes on and on
