Influence sure, many coaches do. Whiz has also been dick riding Mariota like a FSU coed climbing Jameis Winston.

Webster makes this call. It all falls on him unless he gets a call from up top like in 06. Then they make the call.

Which is why I've always been an advocate for taking Grayson or petty to compete w mett and may the best man win

Honestly as qb prospects both would be much higher rated than mariota if mariota ran a 4.8

The dumbest thing whiz could do is not act in love with mariota...he should be wearing mariota jerseys every day. Get a tat of his wife in a mariota jersey. Even if all that happened I'd bet anything we don't take him.

Bryce Petty came out of that Art Briles system that produced RG3.

The difference being Petty doesn't have the legs of RG3.

I'd stear clear of him though. His deep stuff is ugly.

He is at best Ryan Tannehill v2.0

Pretty much mariotss ceiling..might as well take that w a fourth instead of two overall. Grayson is top choice.

I agree. I wouldn't hate the LW pick, I can get behind it as he is versatile and dominant, but I don't see him being the guaranteed monster everyone says he will be. I would much rather grab a franchise QB, #1 WR, or a nasty pass rushing OLB at #2 if they don't trade back. I would love a trade for the house, but low odds that happens IMO.

You can read it like that but public statements ain't drawing trade interest. If Whiz says he really likes him, then he really likes him.

They've publicly said it will take a lot for them to leave #2 which means they love who they are targeting.

I have have a hard time believing they are that in love with an average athlete lineman with no pursuit skills and a questionable motor.

All that trade stuff is done in backroom deals and phone calls behind the scenes.

These people ain't paying attention to the media. They operate in their own world.
