Would you trade away our 1st round pick for Philip Rivers?

I just don't like the Rivers Idea for the long term....He isn't young, high salary, etc...That said, we need a QB so as long as we get good trade in return, it's whatever. I just want to watch some winning take place again.

 

Why would you trade your franchise QB for a DE. I understand Watt is awesome, but that just don't make sense. Then they will be like the texans - an okay defense with no offense.

 

I wouldn't mind Rivers and #17 for the #2, but I'd like to see more picks this year and no I wouldn't trade future picks for him.

If Chip Kelly wants Mariota so bad why didn't he offer us up a deal involving McCoy? He could have got Kiko for draft picks.

 

Then we take Winston #2.

Who says we go back into rebuilding mode after rivers retires? I think mett could actually turn into a decent qb if he had a vet like rivers to pave the way for him.

Either way, I'm cool with taking mariota or Winston, but we've been down that road for almost 10 years now...banking on a rookie qb to turn this franchise into a winner. If you have a chance to get one of the best qbs in the league who is a perfect fit for what your head coach wants to do then do it.

having rivers not only makes our team instantly way better, it brings a new attitude to the whole team and takes pressure off whatever young qb we choose to groom(whether it be mett or another guy in the next couple years).

Btw, we are a better team than last year's record indicated. Any team that changes the entire offensive and defensive scheme is going to struggle. We were plagued with injuries and we had 3 different qbs throughout the season who would struggle to win with even the best teams in the league.
