I just don't trust Mariota and do not think he will fit in here. There is a reason why he is not in the top 5 of most people's big boards. He is not worth the 2nd pick. You don't take a QB high just because you think you should. That hardly works out. The hit rate is actually really low. Yes, a franchise QB changes everything, but why do we think he is? He might be the best in this draft? Not every draft is going to have franchise QB. He cant be one just because we want him to be. Unfortunately, there is not a sure fire QB in this draft. Sucks, deal with it. We trade back and collect picks for this and next year. Anything else is a reach and one more move like that could push us back another 3-4 years.

I'd still take Clowney over Bridgewater. Clowney was hurt last season. He's a monster. Bridgewater, with his slender frame isn't long for the NFL I'm afraid. He'll get a devastating injury in the next few years, just watch.

If you can only draft "sure" franchise QBs.. you'd never ever draft a QB. EVERY QB has issues. The last 2 totally "NFL Ready" QBs to come out that I remember (Leinart and Luck) Leinart was a total bum, and Luck is good, but has some definite issues.

The hit rate is low.. but you have to try sometime.. Not everybody is a New Orleans Saints, and dumb lucks their way into a franchise QB in free agency, or a Patriots, and dumb lucks their way into an all time great in the 6th round.

There is no such thing as a safe 1st round QB. And most of the "surest" ones go #1.. which we don't have that pick, anyway. Never have.

FTR.. I don't "believe" in Either QB.. But I believe even less that a glorified DT is going to lead us to the promised land with Mett at QB.

Really, this is a great draft for us.

There is no likely situation I would hate.

They take either Mm or jw. Ok, in cool with that. I'll trust their evaluations over mine.

They trade rape someone, and draft a WR first, and get more picks. That'd be awesome.

    Take leonard williams?

It is my least favorite option, but I can get on board with it.

    Think about it.

Williams is a freaking beast of a man man. He has all the tools to be a dominant force.

So, the question is... Do you trust lebeau and Horton to coach him up? Teach him pass rush moves. How to set up linemen. How to get his pads low.

I think, paired with a mentor and fellow Trojan in casey, Williams could easily be taught technique and whatnot which, with his natural power and quickness, could make him a dominant force in the NFL.

This guy and casey rushing you from the end while orakpo and Morgan come off the edges...

    That could work nicely.

So I can get on board. But that means 33 has to be a WR.

So any way it goes, I'll be happy.

I wonder what the mett fans will say after next season when we give him the reigns with cooper and a 2nd round RT? I'm guessing something like "cooper's a bust, let's draft another wr in the first"

I don't care who is behind Center....Unless they add a true #1 outside receiver and get the running game going, NOBODY is winning.

clowney will never be a solid NFL player. He has work ethic issues, and injury issues. He was done before he ever started his NFL career. Horrible pick. If he ever makes an impact, it will be a huge comeback story.

TAKE THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE. We don't have nearly enough talent to try and pigeonhole a WR-no-matter-what approach. If LW is their top player they better fking pick him, or Mariota, or if its a WR then fine. I think Williams is much more talented then Cooper or White.

Only plausible situation that I would be upset at is trading for Rivers.

Ill say, sucks Mett didn't work out. Glad we didn't pick Mariota and glad he sucks with the Browns because now that we have their top 5 pick this year, we can get an actual decent QB (Cook or Hackenberg) and now he can come in with more weapons around them and better chance to succeed.
