I'll say it for the 100th time... If we actually would take qb every year until we had one, then I'd be fine risking this on mariota.

But that is not going to happen. So in order to take him you have to legit believe he is the elite future. I don't, at least not for us with whis. And I like the potential qb field in the next 2 years both college and pro free agents.

I also want to see the pressure on whis now. So if we suck then we can get rid of him.

Most important outside of qb is trenches and lbs in 3-4.

That's why lw is an option :)

Yes.. Because a large percentage of 1st round QBs bust..we should avoid drafting them at all cost. At any given moment, there are rarely ever more than 10 great QBs in the world.

Guess how these teams get these guys???? Most of the time.. In the draft. And 1st round has the highest hit percentage of all rounds.

Yes, you can throw out plenty of busts.. But that does not change the fact that teams need a QB, and sometimes with luck, those QBs end up being good.

It's up to the Titans. If the Titans believe he's the franchise guy then draft him. If not, they made their choice and I'll still be on here celebrating drafting LW or whomever or a trade.

At the fan standpoint, we can sit on here and look at potential prospects for the next year or two. The Titans can not. Webster and Whiz know they have to make a move now or they're likely done. I'm not the biggest Whisenhunt fan either but I rather them make an effort to try and improve the team now instead of not doing anything and potentially seeing this mess for another year.

I'll be more than happy if LW is our guy at #2. I think that bringing in LeBeau is gonna do wonders for our D. The thought of LW and Casey teaming up make me hype.

I still feel like JW, MM and LW are the only guys worthy of taking at #2. If Ruston and Co. aren't sold on any of them then I say trade down for Cleveland's two 1st round picks.

Hindsight is 20/20 dude. We took woolfolk, and other players high who were wastes of space as well. The colts (2x) are happy with their 1st round QB. So are the ravens, steelers, packers, panthers, etc.

And I am NOT saying you are wrong.. Of course Watt and Ngata are better than Locker and VY.

DE could be a safer risk. But a QB is a bigger risk/reward. And this is an optimal time for them to swing for the fences. Playing it safe for 20 years hasn't gotten this franchise anywhere. Fan interest is all time low.. If they bust on this QB, they'll be in this same spot. If they take another Casey-like DE.. We'll probably still be in the same spot too.

Why is this the optimal time? The rest of the team is pretty weak and THIS is the optimal time to swing for a QB that is not ready to start day 1 and is not a fit for the coach's offense?

why is he not a fit?

    cause of a spread offense?

What is it about Leonard Williams?

Alex wrote that long ass post and didn't give one valid point for why he should be the second overall pick in the draft.

His athletic ability is not elite, it isn't even much more than average.

His stats in college are not great.

    His tape is not impressive.

What about him other than "he is a big guy" gets people so excited?

If JJ Watt is the measuring stick for 3-4 defensive ends then he is not even in the same ball park athletically.

    These are their combine numbers.

Williams on the left, Watt on the right.

    Height: 6'5. -------------- 6'5
    Weight: 302 ------------- 290
    Arm Length: 34⅝" --- 34
    Hand Size: 10⅝" ------ 11⅛
    10 Yard Dash: 1.72 --- X
    40 Yard Dash: 4.97 --- 4.81
    Vertical Jump: 29½" - 37
    Broad Jump: 106" ---- 120
    3 Cone Drill: 7.59 ----- 6.88
    20 Yard Shuttle: 4.53 - 4.21

In addition Watt did benched pressed 34 reps and Leo didn't participate.

    Spider charts again

I'm not saying every 3-4 DE needs to be JJ Watt but Watt is the new measuring stick and if you are taking a player at #2 overall I'd assume you'd hope they'd be elite at their position and not just a starter.

Look at Leonard Williams stats. I'm using the player rankings in the PAC 12 so that he actually shows up on the chart.

    48 solo tackles
    32 assist tackles

Ranks 25th in the PAC 12

He is beat out on the dline in the PAC 12 by Nate Orchard, Danny Shelton and Deforest Buckner. Leo's numbers are closer to Andrew Hudson.

7 sacks tied for 10th in the PAC 12

Beat out by Hudson, Shelton, Orchard and others on the defensive line.

I can't see the reasoning behind making him #2 overall. I'm not saying he will be a bust but he doesn't seem to be the type of generational player that you hope to land at #2.
