If any team really wanted Winston, all they would have to do is set him up for a false arrest while he visits a potential team.

Even a false arrest would make his draft stock stumble.

Do you think a team would be dirty enough to do that?

First the kid doesn't know what's going on in the draft rooms so that point isn't valid. . Second it's been done before. Chargers/ Giants with Manning. These other GMs aren't retarded-it's their job to work the draft to their teams advantage. It's naive to think many GMs WONT call the bluff. And there isn't any problem being "stuck" with Winston as a worst case scenario even in the highly unlikely scenario nobody did offer a worthy trade. It's a low risk- high reward venture. And I have little doubt multiple teams would trade for him.

DAVIS: "My next mock draft comes out today, or later today, and spoiler alert, I actually put Mariota to 2 to Tennessee. Now part of doing mock drafts is you're doing some speculation, you're doing some guessing, and I spent some time over the weekend with somebody close to the Tennessee organization, who told me it's not as nearly as farfetched as we would have once thought, and I was adamant for weeks there was no way Tennessee would take Marcus Mariota, didn't seem to be a fit. I don't know if they're trying to blow smoke, if they're trying to confuse the issue, so we can't circle in on what they're doing, which is their right and I understand that, but I put him there as a possibility, we shall say what ultimately happens, shakes up my mock draft, but if Winston falls to 2, please tell me we're not going to spend 10 minutes waiting for that pick to go in. If he falls to 2, Tennessee run up there and get it done, please, because that makes no sense to do otherwise, if they feel good about the off-the-field, if all of that checks out for them, they should run up there, because it seems to be more like Kurt Warner back with Ken Whisenhunt and operating that offense."

its naive to think it wont come out that the titans were trying to trade their #2 overall pick. a team might leak it right away to lower the value. take who you want no matter what at 2 or trade. if we take mariota and try to trade him and fail id be even more pissed than just taking him than saying they are totally in love and hell be great.

True. We better sprint up there if Winston is on the board. I wouldn't even entertain offers.

Mariota taken #1 scenario: Titans associate runs to give card with Winston's name on it to NFL officiant assigned to take cards, but falls and breaks leg. Draft clock runs out. Team trades with Jacksonville to take Winston at #3 while our guy is laying on the floor crying and blabbering.

Merrill Hoge agrees with Jaws that Mariota will go #1. He says Winston is too slow and lumbersome and would get killed behind TB's offensive line. He reminds Hoge of Leftwich. On the other hand draft experts like Charles Davis feel like Mariota is too quick for Whiz's scheme and that Winston is a natural fit. However Davis is picking the Titans to take Mariota if Winston isn't available. Its getting interesting.

Guys, this is ESPN just filling airtime until the draft.

Winston was at a charity event with John Alstott over the weekend in Tampa. He's going #1.
