LOL....says the guy with the #31 jersey on his avatar. I remember similar terms being used for Finny by folks not living in Tennessee back in the day.

Maybe Rivers doesn't want to move to LA because it's the cesspool of America?

It's certainly his right, he's under no obligation to relocate anywhere..he says he'll play out the remainder of his contract in SD. If moving to LA doesn't appeal to him for whatever reason, if family being the big one, than that's up to him. Some things are more important than football/job.
Eli refused to go to SD, that to me is a bigger douche. Same as Eric Lindros with the whole I won't play for Quebec thing.

Of course they are saying that he'll get slapped with the tag after this season. They need to do away with the damn Franchise Tag. When a person honors their contract, they should be allowed to do what they want after it is completed. His only option? To retire.

I really don't see Rivers retiring out of his spite because his coach was fired.

Here is how I wish it would go:

Trade back to Jets and get 1.6, 2.6, and 1st round next year

This gives us ammo to stock up which we absolutely need.
This gives us time to continue to evaluate Mett and let him grow
This also keeps Rivers in SD and leaves him available to us next year when he is an FA, so if Mett isn't the guy we can pull the "Stop gap" trigger and get Rivers.

I really think this is the ideal situation for our team. Less risky, larger upside.

I agree with that about the tag especially when the player would like to explore FA or move on. They have obligated their contract.

That would be the best option for sure

I would flip my s*** if Webster did that deal. That would be a "trading down just for the sake of trading down" deal. IMO we need two 1sts THIS year and then some to move back. Even if only 4 spots. The Jets could end up being good next year and having a late pick. Might sound crazy now but you just never know in this league. There are surprise teams every single year.

They still could, and in all likelihood would, tag him. And even if they did let him walk, who's to say Rivers would even come here if he had better options? If we are terrible again he might not want to finish out his career here, Whis or no Whis. I'm not saying he wouldn't still want to come here but a lot can change in a year. It's far from a sure thing that we could get him next year. Not to mention that would put him another year older by the time he gets here.
