If he's the guy some fans are praying he is it will show in camp.

We'd be fools not to use our pick on a QB when the only QB on our roster to win us a game is a 3rd string scrub.

Just because he is the second best QB in the draft and likely to be picked 2nd overall (by whomever is there) and everybody wants him to be a "franchise" qb, doesn't mean that he is. The top 1 or 2 qb in every draft are not going to be franchise qb. Just because they are the best in that class, doesn't mean they are good. Just better than the rest and qb is the highest valued position.

It makes zero sense to draft Mariota if people are even slightly talking about Mett is starting this year. A qb drafted at 2 overall should come in right away and be a potential pro bowl QB. That's not him. Why is it that he is not even in the top 5 of everyone's big board? He is not that good just because everyone wants him to be. Even more so in our offense. Mariota will put this team back another 3-4 years. To take him at 2, we should be 1000% sure he will be great. Can anyone say that? No.

What is better? If you are not positive its Mariota, you take the second. That's makes us better guaranteed even if Mett does not work out.

    Mariota

    or

Mettenberger, Cooper, Orchard and 2016 1st round pick

lmao at "we dont get a chance to pick a franchise qb often so take mariota at 2"

we get a chance to take a mariota every single draft much further down the draft than #2 overall.

**** might as well take hundley...hell be just as successful as mariota

So you aren't going to draft a QB until you are 1000% sure he is going to be great??? I guess you will never be drafting a QB because you can never be 1000% sure of anything. And the idea that draft position somehow plays a major factor as to when a guy should start playing is very poor logic and I think plays a role in why so many QBs get ruined in the league.

Their is nothing wrong with letting a guy learn the pro system for a year before being thrown to the wolves. Especially with how few colleges actually run pro style systems. These guys need to sit and learn the nuiances of what it takes to be a pro QB.

My preference is to trade down to get extra picks and ride with Mett, but if I had to make the selection at #2 then I go QB.

If not trade down, the pick has to be mariota. That is the most valuable asset to the football team. If met turns out great, you trade mariota for two number ones. Talk about making the Titans better, if not trade down have option of met and mariota and see how it turns out. That makes the most sense.

Lmao. If we take mariota (we won't) and mett starts ahead of him (we would) and we try to trade mariota after a year or two...he'd likely at best get us a second. Probably a third. Dumb. The top qbs next year will be jus as good as mariota.

You don't wait until a perfect qb prospect pops up. But if you planning on sitting a guy behind mett for a year you don't take him at #2. Take the guy who'll help.

Yeah to me, these days, you don't draft a QB at #2 and sit him....If they take Mariota, they are starting him. Plain and simple.

That was a bad sentence by me. But, that idea is still valid. If you spend a second overall pick on a QB, you better be really sure he is a cant miss type prospect and you know he can step in right away and get the job done. Starting right away is just how it works now. Pressure from ownership and fans make is. As much as I disagree with it, that's how it is. Look at the Jags with Gabbert and Bortles. Or with Manziel last year. First round picks play right away. Mariota wont be ready. I don't want a QB at 2 that has to sit. What if Mettenberger pans out. Plus, it hurts the rest of out team to have him sit. We could use those extra picks to help the team and Mettenberger. If Mett does not work out, we have a better players around the QB position plus 2 first round picks next year.

Why hasn't this trade been a possibility mentioned yet?

3 Team Trade involving Tennessee, San Diego, and Cleveland

San Diego trades Rivers to Cleveland
San Diego trades the #17 pick to Tennessee

Cleveland trades the #12 and #19 pick to Tennessee

Tennessee trades the #2 pick to San Diego

We get the #12, #17, and #19 picks in this years draft in exchange for the number 2

Cleveland gets a QB that can win now and they have the defense in place that can help them make playoffs

San Diego gets a new QB and can start rebuilding pieces around him instead of worrying about re-signing their veterans Weddle and Gates.

Tennessee gets 3 picks inside the top 20, and we can speed up our rebuilding process.

Plus according to the draft chart we get 3,025 and give away 2,600.

First 3 team trade I've liked. 3 in the top 20 would be great.
