Pretty smart conclusions for a Canadian I agree WR is a possibility even with the Nicks and Douglas signings. Its a 1 year if he shows his old form and Hunter doesn't progress maybe Hunter is gone next year? Surprised no RB...if we trade with Browns for 12 and 19 maybe Parker and Gurley?

 

Passer... Hmm maybe I might be wrong on what you're saying but Mariota is not as accurate as RG3 is capable of.

Kaep has a laser against certain zone coverages and his legs equate that Man defenses are futile against him.

Young was never a good passer.

Mariota has streaky accuracy tho. He is not consistent and his area reads and short passes help what looks like accuracy. I'm not going to take one side of the other here but none of these folks are high level Qbs.

I'm afraid that against nfl pressure his pocket presence will break down a bit. His slightly inconsistent accuracy level will get worse and his limited reps in college making NfL throws (small window placement and reads) will quickly put him behind the 8 ball.

Dink and dunker with a sprinters athletics. Potential ceiling is Drew Brees. Realistic ceiling is probably Alex smith. Reality is probably none of the above right away. If ever.

That being said with Metts ability to throw into the Forrest and have decent success doing so as a rookie/preseason - build something for him. His experience has more upside for this year with the right offense for him to lean against. Mariota would be a few years off. Mett is actually a much safer win now option going into year two.

what those three have in common, is that they all could probably have been better than they were/are or still be in the NFL. They all share the same trait in their inability to focus on football and focus on improving their passing game. I think Mariotta is different in that regard, remains to be seen if it will matter though.

I am a firm believer that the franchise will set the QB up for success. Kaep was set up for success early on, and it showed. He will probably flame out this year though. Young, RG3, and about any previous Oregon QB, all went into terrible situations. If you believe that Mariotta might be a good QB and you trust Wiz and Co. to surround him with talent, you take him.

With that being said, I don't think Wiz and Co. are capable of doing that. I think Mett fits what they want to do, and I am fine with that, because I do think Mett can be a Stafford like player for us.

I see no reason there will be a board meltdown unless we get robbed in a trade.
