I'm glad Mariota didn't wear number 10 at Oregon...

Voted no - wanted Williams or a respectable trade out. I have little confidence in Whizzy being the HC that will be able to utilize Marota's strengths after last years majorly disappointing debacle.

I am also concerned that the show-pony pick was made to try and kickstart the franchise now so that it makes a better proposition to be sold on.

I look forward to seeing Mariota trying to rescue the franchise behind an Offensive Line with more holes than swiss cheese and the "all filler no thriller" line-up of wide outs that we have while having Fowler and Watt chasing his sorry ass for 4 games of the season using Whizzys latest inventive play-schemes. Stellar viewing for all I suspect.

Plus , did it not stick in everyones throat to see Webster and Whizzy shaking hands with all their war room colleagues last night with big smiles like it was some kind of major coup to get Mariota into a Titans Jersey ?

He was there at two for us because we stank the joint out last year you a-holes ! If you think that either tanking or just plain stinking it up to get to 2-14 is some kind of major strategy achievement then you need to get out of town and take your hackneyed ideology and rationale with you.

Titans fan living in Jersey, all Philly sports radio has talked about the last 3 months was "doing the deal" for Mariota. Fans here are extremely disappointed with the results last night.

I was hoping for a major trade involving the young defensive studs from the Eagles, 2 first round picks and a 2nd or 1st next year but the truth is that Philly never planned on including any players in the trade.

With that said, its a no brainer for this organization to have taken Mariota with their pick at #2. The upside is far too great to have passed on him.

Im more excited having slept on the pick this morning than I was last night.

Hopefully the sky is the limit. Gotta make the rest of this draft count though.

This is my biggest concern as well. Whiz seems to be a "my way or the highway" kind of coach who thought his offensive schemes were beyond criticism. He five and seven-stepped Mett repeatedly last season behind a horrible/injured OL until the inevitable happened.

Whiz says he'll adapt to Mariota's strengths. I figure that means we'll see more quick passes and Mariota out of the pocket vs. big drops and all receivers going deep.

If Mariotta and Whiz fail. Do you think we could fire Whiz and Kelly would jump ship with the Eagles to come here?

Kiper said it was a great pick this morning.

Then Mike and Mike start talking about how the Titans picked a guy they didn't want because they wanted to trade him.

They have been saying for weeks we were going to deal the pick, so it was a little butthurt.

They said the Titans were "flat" after making the pick. Didn't seem flat to me.

I'm not saying if the offer was ever made or not, we will never know, but I surely wouldn't take Kelly's word on it after the fact.

I said before the draft that Kelly would be dumb trading a bunch of players. Trading all those players IMO would've put him on the verge of losing the locker room. Guys don't want to see teammates who played well get shipped out at the drop of a pen, like Kelly seems to be doing already, because they will never know if who will be next. No job security, no loyalty from the players if you do this too much.

If Kelly made this trade, do you really think the players would've respected him for it? Do you think they would've been fawning all over Mariota like the media and fans? I doubt it. The probably would've been pissed that solid/good players that were likely respected in the Locker room were sold out for a Rookie coach's pet QB ... But Kelly didn't think of all that, he just wanted his guy.

Now that it didn't work out, Kelly has some damage control to take care of. If players think he was really trying to sell them out for another one of 'his guys', it might not sit well. I could see players losing patience for this guy pretty quickly unless Kelly does a good job of convincing them that the trade deal was never real.

I think Kelly is a smart football mind, very progressive. But an HC needs more than that. They need to be a leader to the players. They need to make guys follow them ... I feel that Chip could be setting himself up badly if players sense this deal was real.

The titans wanted mm all along. Of course they were willing to deal the pick, but only for an insane trade. I think they got what they wanted. Now we just need to stack one of those top tackles to protect him. I think this will be a heavy o draft.
